before i fix her up

hello i bought my first car a few months ago its a 94 chevy beretta 3.1 i love this car i want to start fixing her up like some of these nice cars i see on the site but i do i have an issue . lately when im out on a drive my car just shuts off it does not matter where i am or where im going she will just shut off. for the most she starts right back up but i was yesterday i was on the highway going about 60 and she shut off quite scary but i was able to pull off the road ...does anybody know what this could be?

Sounds kinda like a ground issue i had one time. Do your guages pulse or fluctuate when you tap the brakes sometimes?

Agreed, ground issue, loose battery connection, etc. Go over the main connections (battery terminals, Alt, Starter, the firewall ground, etc.)

ive never seen them fluctuate but i will check in the morning is there anything else it can be also ?

Crappy alternator? Its prolly just a loose connection somewhere. Check your block grounds.

I had a similar problem with mine when the ground strap between the engine/transmission and body broke but i also had a broken fuel injector at the time so not sure that that was entirely the problem but it seemed to be and the fuel injector seemed to have more to do with why it wouldnt restart most of the time on mine

ok i checked to see if my guages fluctuated didnt notice anything no fluttering ive seen the responses about the ground issues and ground block ...could you tell me where exactly what what i need to look for im not to familiar with that i appreciate it
