I have a 88 beretta 2.8 v6 with three speed aotomatic transmission. Problem is no third gear. Car runs good but will not shift into third gear. I bought this car with 28,000 miles and now have 41,000 miles. I tried changing trans. fluid and filter but no luck. There was no shavings on the magnet when i changed fluid and other than this problem I have not had any problems. Any suggestions? Thanks

My 90GT lost 1st and 2nd once. Two switches had gone out, 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. But you have a THM125C and I have a HM 3T40. If you can, look under the filter for some small black boxes on the valve body. I took my car to a shop and it didn't cost all that much.

I took this to a transmission shop thinking it was something simple but no such luck. They said third gear was out of it and one of the bands and two discs were bad. I bought this off an estate and it only had 28,000 original miles on it. It now has 41,000 on it but that still seems strange that the tranny would go out of it. I got it fixed and still use it for work. Other than that it has ran pretty well. Thanks for the help.

Sound's like I was way off. Well at least you got it taken care of. I wish I could have been more help. My car has over 200K on it so I didn't think it was going to be that big of a deal. The switches were the only trouble I've had, with my trans that is.
