Beretta.net

How can we keep new members to the board? There must be 1000s of people that have signed up never to be seen again. This is a serious problem, and we have to start getting a community back together. Its really difficult to get parts now, need more eyes out there. What do you all think?

We need more serious members that are willing to do new and innovative things to berettas. Great projects spark new interests in new members, things get competative, and the whole community grows from it.

Unfortunatly theres only a handful of guys that still do much work to their cars. I myself used to be one of those people with a 29 page build thread and many people following it and bouncing ideas back and fourth. But like many others, the beretta is put by the wayside for other hobbies like drifting and working and school...

The cars range in age from 23 to 15 years old. If you mean the kids who get one of these cars for their sweet sixteen, then yes we will eventually not receive new members due to newer cars that start being handed down...

But.

Those who value these cars, and appreciate their design and beauty will gravitate here, and and hopefully stick around. Think of it less like losing members, but instead, our membership growing up.

I don't see a problem in that.

well, when you sit down and look at the facts, the answer is obvious, the newest beretta is 15 years old, not many people want them anymore, most are scrapped, they are hard to come by, especially in nice shape, most people that will buy them are young kids and they just hammer the hell out of them, or very very few keep them and preserve them, they arent collector cars, there wasnt much interest in them when gm was making them, and there certainly isnt now. in ten years of making, gm sold less then 1 million beretta's, thats a low number for a car that was produced nearly ten years....

My thing is, what is considered new and innovative? Short of someone rebuilding one completely, (which happens occasionally) most of what can be done, has been done. You only have so much to work with. LOL

I mean, what.. We have 3400/3500/3800 swapped beretta's, ones converted from auto to manual, ones that have been frankensteined together from more than one beretta, interior redesigned, all kinds of paint styles, lighting styles, kits, wheels, and other various performance parts.

For a limited production vehicle and a currently low desirability car from an enthusiasts perspective, our world is shrinking. Regardless how much we love our cars, they will not be around forever. To me, it feels like you guys are looking for a community that would be akin to something like a cavalier, which is larger, has a larger following and way more of the cars on the road than the beretta ever did, not to mention more of a pool to draw ideas and innovation from.

Unless GM decides to re-introduce the beretta (which is extremely unlikely) our members and following are going to continue to get smaller. Just fact.

I do HOPE though, that things do improve, that our members here continue to grow. It would be cool to have some more new members that really want to participate and contribute their ideas, no matter how much other's may, er.. resist the change.

Maybe a live chat like mixer said. Maybe more tech articles with pictures on how to do stuff. Thats how I found this site and got on it. Maybe that would bring more people to stay not just the few I see posting here and I am still pretty new.

That's one thing that is lacking here. How to's and other articles. Bstuff had lots of this, and it no longer functions. Eventually some of that will show up again here, but it will take time.

As I have said before when it has come up there will be NO live chat function to beretta.net, it would require constant active moderation and as a group we don't need that headache. As far as the how-tos and whatnot go, it takes people posting them here or giving the ok to copy them from other sites they have posted them on.

As Will said, if you know a how to process and have photos post it, we will take care of it from then. We also need to re-organize the home page since the links got messed up so some of the items on there are displayed differently than they were before. That shouldnt be a hard process it just takes time, and a few of us have been hard up on that lately.
