Sway bar bushings

I recently bought some energy suspension sway bar bushings. The kit came with just the 2 brackets and the 2 black bushings. I got the kit through summit. Here is a link.

Well how the hell did everyone install these? Because the stock bolt is a "U" shape so I can't use that with these new brackets.....so whats the big secret?

I have the same poly bushings and I just installed them with bolts. If I remember right I did have to modify the flat slotted part of the bracket to fit on the subframe correctly.

Trim to fit... and just get any bolt that fits the hole, I think 3/4" is long enough.

Just a heads up the reason for these not fitting is they are Universal... you did not buy the ones that are meant for our cars. If you have stock brackets not broken you could have gotten these

No, judging by the diameter of the bushings in his link, he is running an FE7 bar, not FE3...which would make sense if his car is a Quad.

Missed that, and your right ES doesn't make FE7 sized bushings.

Energy Suspension offers bushings that will fit in the stock brackets. I'm using them on my GT.

Kurt, you read as quick as I did... They don't have that type of bushing for the FE7 bar though. I already looked and couldn't find anything. But yes for us 30mm guys, if you have the brackets you can get stock replacement bushings... But I opted for greasable.

For the FE7... boner found an option years ago, the brackets needed modded to fit.

I don't recall what these were made for, but they fit the bar well.

Yeah thats what we've been talking about, the Universal 17.5mm bushings. they need to be cut and trimmed to fit the mounting location as my pic and woody's pic shows.

Back on subject. Dam that FE3 Sway bar is thick! Is it possible to run that on my Quad? Or am I better off with the FE7 sway bar?

It's never been fully tested to my knowledge, (and I mean someone running with a FE7 on a track, then swapping to a FE3 bar and reporting the feel change, same car same driver same track.) but the FE7 is supposed to work better with a smaller bar due to its attachment point directly to the strut... Seeing the FE3 bar is further in on the control arm it needs way more beef to act against movement... It also weighs a friken ton.

Hence the noting of FE1 is base, FE3 is typically Z26 and then their best suspension was the FE7... sequential numbers equating to the better one at the end.

I'm also not sure if the FE7 is just as strong when mated with a V6 like woody did and the Z51 style GT's that they put out... It may be just as effective though regardless of the weight I'm just not 100% sure. Obviously that doesn't apply to you since your using a quad.
