My rear shocks are completely shot and i need some new ones, I don't want to spend a lot of money, but enough to get some good ones. I'm going to be lowering my car this summer and want to get the right shocks, if someone could put me in the right direction it would be appreciated. I've been looking on rock auto and I want to know between the monroe and kyb and then the different kinds what should i get

KYB Gas-A-Just shocks. You will not regret it. Monroe's can't take lowering and will die quickly under a lowering spring.

But if your planning to rock stock springs, Monroe Sensa-tracs are a good brand. I have had them on three of my cars and love the hell out of them!

For stock ride quality is what I meant. Not meant for lowering. KYB's are your best bet for a lowered ride. He was asking, I thought, about "in the interim before lowering" shocks. That , imho, would be Monroes.

oh i see! yea he mentioned that he was planning on lowering it so I thought to go directly with the KYB's. So yea, Thompson, the verdict:

Lowering = KYB GR-2's up front and KYB Gas-A-Just's in the rear.

Stock height = Monroe all around

Another thing we were discussing in another thread. If you're going to be doing your suspension might as well do the strut mounts up front. For those Monroe, or ACDelco is the better brands to get as KYB ones are kinda horrid. Strut boots may also need a change and those would be best to use Monroe or Moog.

BTW, I like you Eagle Alloys Series 192's. They actually look quite nice on our cars surprisingly enough. I have a set of Series 028's from the late 80's, myself.
