On going idle issue

1990 3.1 the idle has been a bit not right, up down, little too high. I put a new TPS on it today and it seems better. Cleaned up TB while it was off. Put new wires and plugs in it. Still not getting the smooth running motor. Close but not there. I guess I need to look for vacum leaks?
What is that thing at the back of the TB right side above the linkage. Sorta looks lookes some type of coil pack but isn't?

Are you refering to the Idle Air Control valve that sits pretty much on top, or the EGR? If there is a tube coming up from the exhaust to the bottom of it thats the EGR. Those can cause rough idles or even high ones depending on the malfunction.

ok, I am lost. Looking at the TB, on the left side you have two devices with wires going into them. One on bottom, I am told was the TPS and I replaced it, and the one on top of it that I am told it the IAC? I took that off and cleaned it up, it had a pointed end on a spring loaded shaft of sorts. I was told that prob is not my issue? And What is the sensor going into the side of the air filter box?
Where is the EGR again? What does it look like? Again this is a 90 3.1 motor.

TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is one sensor on your TB. The "D battery" shaped sensor is the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve is the "flying saucer" looking think by the firewall. Has a thick metal tube going to it.

what is the sensor plugged into the airfilter box?
I replaced the TPS, the one above it (IAC) would that have much impact on the idle.
