Hey everyone, its been a few years since I've been a member of the Beretta community, thought I would come back and check up on all of you. I was over on the bstuff.com forums before, as NocturnalGTU. I still have the same '88 GTU as I had before, more work has been done to it since then, and there is a lot more work to come.

List of goods:
3400 swapped
MAF to speed density conversion
HM282 trans
Cold air intake
2.5" mandrel bent exhaust w/ flowmaster 40 muffler
Heads are ported and polished
Poly bushings
KYB struts and shocks
Front strut tower brace
Bridgestone Potenza Re-11s

I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of little things here and there, but those are the major upgrades. Now onto the two recent pics I have.

Interesting paint job. I love the hood, but why all the hood pins?

Its the US body (I think thats the company name) "race weight" hood, so it doesn't use the hinges or latch. I had originally just put the four pins in it, but at 70mph and up the very front of the hood would rattle, and the rattle would only get more violent as speed increased. So, out of best interest of the hood I put two more in it. Because after spending that much money on a hood, the last thing I wanted to happen was it cracking.

To be honest I have never taken it down the quarter mile, its never really seemed thmeat exciting to me. I do autocross though and always have a blast doing that. Autocross is what I'm building the car for, so next up on the to do list is bigger brakes up front and converting the rear to disc.

Personal opinion... although I would prefer road rally racing over autox. ;)

Wow! I'm surprised the hood flexed that much. Do you have a solid front grille or eggcrate?

Solid front grill, I don't like the look of the eggcrate grille at all. But that wouldn't do much as far as airflow with the hood with the plastic piece that sits over the radiator/air dam. I don't know what the supports look like under the hood that uses the hinges and latch, but the hood that I have barely has any, not only that but the support that it does have doesn't come close to the front of the hood, its at least a foot back from the leading edge.

YES!!!! Me too. Sounds like the hood was just poorly engineered. They do look tits though.

Judging by where the original front pins were, I think the issue is just the location and force holding the hood down... Also the pin method and type will determin how much play there is. Those look like standard clips with the snap over ring so they dont fall out... I'm not sure how well those are and can be adjusted to provide pressure to hold the hood down.

Something like this probably would have held the hood down a bit better

Standard hood pins are threaded on the underside to get the height correct, and then you can use a jam nut or even rubber fuel hose to take the play out of it under the hood so it's tight top & bottom. Moving the pins forward would help, but the headlight assembly would be in the way then.
