1992 Quasar GTZ

So this is my 1992 Quasar GTZ. I purchased this car from Dhenderz last fall. Its a rust free California car and was structurally in great shape. Some dings and dents, but mostly straight. The paint however was NOT in great shape. After being baked in the sun at Miramar air force base, it was flaking off at every opportunity. Dennis had spot primered the flakes but on the drive home, I actually lost about another square foot of paint over the whole surface of the car. The interior was basically shot, again from the UV damage to the car. The a pillar covers had all but melted, and the dash was toasted. The car has sat in my garage pretty much untouched until a month ago. As most of you know, tho not sure how many of you cared, lol Ive been away for awhile. I've had some serious health problems, some bad luck, and a child custody battle, all at the same time.
Pics of the car when I got it home.

Hood was in bad shape, car was missing paint on every panel. And it wasnt even Quasar anymore, the shine was baked out and no amount of rubbing compound polish and wax would bring it back.
So I started out on the worst of the panels. Hood roof and trunk lid. The spoiler was so bad from the sun it had broken in several places, and the encapsulated bolts spun inside the spoiler. It came off looking something like this.
Bolts got left in the trunk lid.
Hood was trash. I was in a rush to get those three panels done for the Automotion Car Show in Wisconsin Dells. It was about 50 degrees outside when I laid a skim coat of bondo on the hood to level out the low spots. Because I didnt feel like blasting it. Bondo wouldnt cure so I ended up removing it. So the hood has low spots, but when I paint the doors and quarters I plan to repaint the rest of the car so all the flake lays down in the same direction.

For clear, I use a Finish Masters product called Smart Clear 2k. Its a good hard poly and has a great shine, Its great for panel repair because you can spray it to match factory peel, or reduce it a bit more and it comes out nice and flat. It cuts easy and polishes well.
I decided not to paint the rest of the car before Bfest. I pulled my back out rushing for Automotion, and I don't feel like another night in the hospital. There are dents in both from fenders along the body line that are beyond my desire to fix, especially because I have brand new ones on the shelf and rust free ones for 30 each up the road at the boneyard.
Took a quick shot before I headed to work today.
I've sprayed professionally on a line years ago. But typically was red oxide primr and they wiped the runs off with a rag. Without the downdraft and the corners of my "booth" clothes pinned together, I only had 2 fish eyes, and nothing landed in the paint that I couldnt sand out while I was cutting the clear.
Glad to be able to drive it and not have to see paint flakes in my rear view mirror!!! I installed my dark blue interior I had lying in the garage to replace the junk that was in there, and now I have a blue on blue GTZ. Im very happy with it so far.

Damn lol.. you are one lucky guy! I wish I had to money to have a fleet like that.. I could go out and buy another 08 Cobalt for the amount of money i have in my 94 Z already lol.
Edit-- You should see the funny looks i get from my neighbors. All I have is my parts car in the carport and my 94 Z haha. I wonder what your neighbors say about 5 of the same kind of car lol

neighbors think im weird, cops wont leave me alone. Im running for Village Board because the ordinances in this town suck ass. Apparently you dont have the right to personal property. Ill be leaving for work about once a month and see an officer crawling around on my cars writing down all the vin numbers. Found a new scratch on the red one that could only be from a fat ass cops belt.

What kind of lowering springs you using in the Quasar Chad?
Love the way the wheels especially came out. Mine are DEF getting done when I get the front end repair done.
