Power window problem

Post by cshults »

Hi guys,

Well, my drivers side power window is stuck in the down position. When I initially put the window down the window motor sounded as if it was still cranking even when the window was in the full downward position. I flipped the switch to put the window back up partially and the noise stopped, put the window back down and all was fine. Went to put the window back up a little while later and nothing, no noise, no power, no nothing, just a window stuck in the down position.

I'm not quite sure what the problem is, if the window motor blew or if there is a regulator that could have gone bad or what. A local shop I called quoted me $225 for a window regulator + $150 for labor but when I went to look online to see if I could find a regulator for less, I could not find just a regulator, I found a "window regulator motor"..Are these parts one in the same on the beretta?

Thanks!

you need to goto a salvage yard, the parts should be cheap so rarely the power windows are ever a problem

Just went to the local recycled parts shop here, they have a motor and regulator for $60, win! Is there anything else could be the problem? The passenger side window works fine, so it's not the circuit breaker..

is the window switch bad? you can usually test the regulator by hooking power and ground to it. reverse the wires to make it go up or down.

Sounds like a possible bad window switch to me. My '87 did this as well and it was the window switch in the console. I also had another do this and it was the plug at the window motor JUST coming a tad loose sometimes losing contact causing the window to stop working.

I popped out the switch and was hoping the salvage yard nearby had a switch..they don't. Any way to tell if the switch is bad other than taking the door panel assembly apart and hooking up power to the window motor?

Jump the wires and see if the motor runs.

Or see if they have a corsica window switch, It might have two extra buttons but will still work.

Took some jumpers to the harness and tried to get it to run, got nothing.. When I have the switch module hooked up and flip the switch for the non functioning window it does make the volt gauge react just the same as when I flip the switch for the working window.. If my logic is correct, that should mean that the switch in question is drawing power and therefore working but the motor just isn't responding, right?

i meant unplug the connector for the power window motor and give the motor juice directly. you will have to pull the door panel off. if you swap pins on the connector you can see if it goes up or down either direction
