New member, first post. I had a couple of positive experiences @ bstuff a while back.

Anyway, the Beretta is my wife's car and she currently ha the best excuse ever for not checking her oil... no dipstick.

The plastic handle broke off. I managed to work the remaider out. I looked at universal dipsticks but I would prefer one that I KNOW is properly marked for her car. I'm guessing a salvage yard part might just give me similar issues eventually.

Anyone know of a good online source for the factory dipstick? A part # would help immensely as well. I have local GM dealer but they charge the high end for over the counter parts. Assuming it isn't too much I might just purchase from them.

3.1L V6

Thanks,
Aaron

One from any 3100 would do, even a 3400...

I can't find my car part book, or I would look up the number myself. Someone here will have it posted for you soon enough.

call any local wrecking yard, they should have a 3100 or 3400 powered car with a next-day expiry date that they'll basically just give you the dipstick from.

They are a bit different year to year depending on how they mount... a 3100 one has a collar that spaces the heater tube up that crosses the front of the valve cover, where the 3400 ones are flat to the head and to the right of the cylinder 6 plug. The 3100 version is to the left with the collar mount.

If you've take these apart you know what I'm talking about, if you haven't you wont understand a word I said... LOL

actually..

3100 dipstick, minus the Heater pipe tube right now, but note where it mounts.

3400 Dipstick... Note it mounts to the right not the left, and I had to cut that collar off my original tube to hold up the heater pipe till I nixed it this year.

If you can't find the correct one at the scrap yard which I would find absolutely impossible to believe, about any 3100/3400 will work just fine.
Do an oil change so you know it's full, throw in a dipstick, pull it out, make a mark with a hack saw and you have your full mark.
