Ok man that piece that has the bolt on it should have a tab on it(that is what should hold the lock in place). Take that off. There is a clip that holds the lock bar on the lock arm. You will have to pry it up to get the rod out. Almost looks like you don't have that. You should find a good one at the JY. Rod guide just slides back.

Oh and if the clip is there you will have to slide it back. There is two tabs that hold the rod and then a hole so the rod can come out.

also, would keyless remotes bypass the whole door lock issue?

Yes the 10mm bolt in your photo on top of the lock. The orange guide slides back down the rod. There is or should be a clip on the opposite side of the guide. Say the guide is the front and on the other side of the lock arm is the back. That is where the clip should be. You will not be able to see it unless the lock is out of the door handle.

what does that clip do and what should it look like? if it is missing then could that be the culprit? i tried graphite powder this morning and the lock still wont budge

I'd have to take a photo of it. All it does is keep the rod on the lock arm. If it's missing the rod could fall out very easy.
Do not use graphite in a lock ever. It holds dirt.
Try to push the rod up and down nice and easy, don't force it too much. If you are in fear of doing so first use the slider under the door release handle on the door panel to see which way the rod goes to unlock and lock. If it moves freely then you are ok to move the rod.
Did you get the lock cylinder out yet?

I did have trouble with a door handle when it was cold out. I mean that the lock would be hard to turn or not turn at all. The lock cylinder was not the problem, it was a poorly cast door handle, the main body that holds the the handle and the lock that is. The cylinder sat at an angle and made it hard to turn with a key.
Get that lock cylinder out so you can be sure if it's ok or not. Then go from there.

here's what i think i know now. one of the 2 locks is a replacement, or so it seems, may be you can judge that for me. the components look nothing alike. this is the passenger side that works. so maybe the lock works but a key doesnt exist, or at least i dont have one.

Drivers side looks stock,all the ones I've seen have that rusty look. Passenger side looks aftermarket. You may have to take it to a locksmith and have the drivers side keyed alike.

odd though......the passenger and trunk open with the same key but the driver side doesnt budge. the locksmith said he would re-key it for 10 bucks if i took the lock off and brought it to him. i'm going to a tire guy locally that also does keys to see if he can do it with out taking it off. first locksmith was douche anyway.

He has to take the cylinder apart to do it.

updating this:

i finally got around to messing with the locks. removing the cylinder on the drivers side that doesnt work was almost too easy as the cylinder practically fell out. the passenger side didnt. the driver side cylinder cap(black piece) fell off as well when it came out. i was going to switch them so i could use the locks with out having to walk around until i can get it fixed properly. guess i gotta order new cylinders.
