1988 GTU 2.8

Hiya Folks,

Well, just got my son his first car. its a 1988 Beretta GTU 2.8. When we got it, it ran fine. Oddly enough, AFTER we changed the oil and filter on it, the car started to not want to start when hot. Then, it got a bit worse.. it would die when he was driving it, then start up go for a little bit longer and then die again...

I've read a few of the other posts, and it sounds like the potential culprit is the Crank Position Sensor. Would this be a good place to start? Or is there anything else that could lead up to, or cause this?

Shorting out fuel injector is my guess.. Measure the resistance across the terminals, they should measure to approximately 12 Ohms. Anything under around 10 could make the car stall when hot.

I agree. I had my 89 GTU acting up the same until it would not turn on at all. I change different parts and it turned out to be the fuel injectors. As soon as put her together she fired right up. I was having the same problem. Car would start but as soon it was hot it would shut down. Also if I would rev my car over 3,000 RPM it shut down. I would check the injectors. Well, I took the advice, got the car home and sure enough, there were.. not 1.. not 2.. but 3 injectors that were testing out at like 2 ohms. Replaced the injectors, put the car back together, she fired right up to a smooth idle.
