shop has had my 2.2 1990 for a week...went in running with 10 k rpm but was running rich...fuel pressure check was running at 23 so they pulled the pump and put in new..according to them it should be gm spec at 13 psi which is what it is....have spark and getting fuel but will not fire unless throttle body is primed they replaced the map sensor as well....called them this morning to see if they reset ecm after doing all of the work...if this dosent work what esle could it be?..thanks for any reply

I don't have 2.2 liter but fuel pressure in the V-6 is usually around 40 psi. Your pressure sounds way low for a fuel injected engine.

Actually that's about right for a 2.2L.  Seems strange that it's running rich yet needs to be primed to start.  My guess would be a clogged injector, but I haven't worked with the 2.2.

naw it was running rich prior to the fuel pump change over...afterwards ..it is doing the "will not fire " routine......what i figure is once the new  fuel filter ..map sensor and  fuel pump were put in...the ecm needs to be rebooted to orginal  preset settings..otherwise it will try to operate at the rich setting that it was running at before....so it dosent know how much fuel to load right now...just a thought and i may be way off

It needs air...is the throttle cable connected? Just a wild speculation, I don't know why it wouldn't fire either.

woke up from a dream and remembered my sons s10 2.8 had a similar problem...bought a new temp control sensor and   dropped it off to the shop...told em to install it and it would fire...by dumb *** luck,,it did!!!..only problen is now...the new fuel filter and pump and mas sensor had no effect on the drivability problem i was having prior ......extreme fluxing rpm's under load at at idle...then to top it off..the ignition cylinder lock took a crap on me.........bought a new one..and had the car towed to another place for the install(never put one in before)...btw the shop had the car for just under 30 days!!...now they have my f150......man this sucks
