Power window jumps track if lowered all the way

Help,
My wife's 1996 Beretta driver's side power window jumps the track if left to go down all the way. If you stop it with about 3 inches to go it will work fine. We have been using it like this until I forgot to stop it now it's off the track again! Is this a common thing or does anyone have any tips?
