Hurricane Irene

Just a FYI for users... I've been without power now since Sunday AM when the storm came in... I expect to still be without power for at least another 5-6 days MIN... So I am going to be very spotty on here and will be working to get the NE event planned still. Nothing has changed with that at this point in time.

If anyone needs me, the best way to get in touch is by txt or E-mail actually... I barely have cell service at home due to unpowered towers and I can't get internet well it all on the phone either.

I'm currently at work which has full power.. Go figure... and I will be out of here at 11 trying to get the necessary wiring for the generator my parents and I are sharing to power my house enough to get a hot shower so I don't have to drive to my inlaws to use theirs... Even though they are still on a generator as well... Both my parents and Amy's are currently out and don't expect power till the 6th at the earliest, so I don't have many places to go.

wow man that sucks. they are trying to say that this is worse than the ice storm we had a few years ago as far as power line wise.

Ok, well I have a 5kw generator now... backfeeding the house so I have some power... Still think it will be at least a week before I get service back though... luckily I do have internet... Go figure. DSL survived, power didn't

Well it figures... I go buy a generator and they decide to fix my neighborhood.

Power came back at 7pm today so I'm back online now. Thank god! At least now I have the generator in case of any issues in the future. Its big enough to run my whole house minus the dryer and cooking range.

Nice.

Glad to see you back there Jon. A lot of the easterners disappeared when the storm hit. Just hope everyone made it through ok.

There is so much damage up in VT its unbeliveable... We were going to go to Killington in a week for a weekend get away and the roads leading to there no longer exist... they were completely washed out. So many roads were washed out its not even funny.

Glad you're back up & running. Couple people here bought generators too. I never lost power or anything though.

Our town floods all the time, and we get a really nasty one every 10 years or so...but we had jack this time. Lucked out.

I'm hoping that Katia just curves back out to sea, or avoids the northeast (or maybe it'll be not so wide if it comes this way). If it did decide to sweep by us, we're going to need to find a better place to park the cars. Last thing we need is for another car to take a beating, and for the lines/pole to come down again.

We got power back Monday night. Got cable back today, finally. There were tons of people clogging the system with calls about "some of my channels aren't coming in", which was making calls like ours (no service, lines down, new pole needs new lines hooked up) not get through as well. We spent Monday driving under the downed lines, and Tue/Wed/Thur driving over them. Now the only line left on the ground is the phone line... who knows when they'll come clean it up (we called them Monday iirc). The wires to the pole at the house are tied up with rope and need an electrician to finish the job.

Have some pics of the damage... from a local TV station, but there's pics from the capital region, as well as VT/MA (and maybe some from CT). Pics from the damage at our place are on my facebook.

wonder how bad the flooding screwed the track up. remember the last time it flooded they had some problems and then we went there not long afterwards and it was a dust bowl.
