aftermarket cooling fan not kicking on

I installed an aftermarket Torqueflo cooling fan in my Beretta, and for some reason when hardwired into the factory wiring, it still doesn't turn on. If I jump the positive from the fan off the battery, it kicks right on.

I'm imagining it's a relay, but there are two relays under the hood with the same amount of pins. Any other ideas, or good directions?

Thanks in advance!

Are you sure you are getting it hot enough to kick on? Temp has to get up to nearly 3/4 on the gauge, or with a properly working A/C system (that is charged) it should kick on when the A/C or Defrost is engaged.

That may be why, I've gotten it close to 3/4 of the way there but not quite. Thanks Ace, I'll let her get a little more toasty and see what happens!

You can disconnect the sensor at the T-Stat, that should also make it kick on.

Turning on the a/c should make it turn on as well iirc.

Again, provided the A/C system has a proper charge level.

Yea, A/C is gone, I'm just running a bypass pulley in it's place, I'll just have to let it heat up lol.

My cooling fan still doesn't kick on, I double checked the coolant temp sensor wiring, and it's all correct. I also replaced my relays, still no fan. Still works when jumped, however.

Highly debating wiring it into a switch in the dash at this point.

Have you scanned your ECU to see if thats seeing proper temperature... You still have two sensors since your OBDI.5 and the one that is at the thermostat could be going bad, or gone bad.

I had to do the three wire conversion, so that is a possibility too... hmmmm...

And if thats not working right your car would run kinda crappy since its not reading proper temperature.

I'm with ya, I'm gonna keep saving out of my paychecks to get everything to do the OBD swap... needs done anyways!
