Actually it was a supercharged 99-04 mustang that just was not running right all night. I think he made one good pass with the car and after that he was having some serious issues. Too bad because it probably would have been a good race, his supercharger was hella loud.

So Rodney, how did you launch it? Did you slip the clutch or feather the throttle or what? What tires? That 60' is damn good.

I left at about 3500 rpm and dumped the clutch. The track was actually well prepped for a wednesday test and tune night I was really surprised. I could have launched it harder. Thats with 24.5 x 8.5 slicks.

Re: So I went to the track lastnight....
The 3500 is untouched except valve springs - I have LS6 yellow springs so that I can rev a little higher.
How much boost a 3500 can handle is a hard question to answer. Assuming you have properly sized the turbo to your engine, it will mostly depend on the tune and what gas you are running.
If your tune is good, and you are running some good gas - I would be comfortable running upwards of 16 psi maybe more.
I have identified the rods as the weak point in these engines - no question about it. I have had 2 engines fail on me, the first was because I had timing problems (faulty ignition module) and I kept my foot in it, and the 2nd engine was due to an electronic boost controller that I was trying to use that didn't work. My own stupidity on both accounts. However, both times the #6 rod has failed.
