How do I take these off without breaking them so I can fill the leak with a sealant to stop leaks? I don't wanna break them.

have to take off wipers (assuming this is a Beretta) then pull up on them, try to take out the plastic thumb nail type of things first. You may have to go to parts store and get news ones as they may be judt do old and one out may lose the ability to hold them down well again. Pretty easy.

You don't have to take the wipers off!

This is how i do it,
1 turn wipers on with car on
2 shut off car (not wipers) when the wipers are vertical
3 unsecure the cowl covers and slide them up the wiper arms
4 you now have access to fix the cowl water leaks

Yeah, that's an easier way, as you have to have a tool to remove the wipers anyhow. LOL

Though, if you have this, it makes it a bit easier....

I put the nail in the arm to raise it off the windshield and remove the nut and just hit the shaft with a hammer... comes off every time.

I use a foot long screwdriver and a block of wood. I had this cheap ass tool that looked like a tiny two arm gear puller. It never ever worked.

I always wrestled with mine to get them off. Ganna have to try the block/long screw driver next time.
Tired of buying special tools to get things off this car. Ha ha ha

I also use this method, but the Snap-On tool would still be nice to have!

whats the best stuff to use to reseal it if the cowl is slightly warped?

The plastic isn't really glued to the windshield, besides in one place I think. I've never seen a brand new beretta and been old enough to check out the cowl with care lol. But if you wanna seal it, use Windshield Weld.

Use window sealer or some have used roofing tar. You can try wedging something between the hood and cowl to push it down on top once you put the sealer on, and leave it there till it's dried.

I'm confused on what you guys think leaks in that area... All of those seams lead directly to the engine bay, not the interior of the car.

If you have a drivers side leak this is the most critical seam...


It leads to where the firewall and brake booster seam is, so if it gets through that, it goes directly under the sealant that is on the engine by side going around where the brake booster is mounted.


On the passenger side you can see where the cowl comes straight down and is spot welded to the firewall, the firewall that you can see below the cowl spot welds continues all the way up into the cowl area and is the base mounting point for the widshield... so 9 times out of 10 any and all passenger side water leaks are coming from your fresh air vent seal.



Even the steering rack mount is spot welded to the firewall itself.

The big gray area in that pic is the seam where the firewall meets the unibody/strut structure, that needs to be sealed as well as the opening where the electrical wires enter the cabin.

the cowl end corners do drain on into the area of the wiring harness going into the firewall.
