radio & courtesy lights problems

I just got a Black '94 Z26 on Friday 2/3/06, and already finding problems I didn't catch when looking at it.

There is an aftermarket keyless entry, and some flat key like card under the dash that when removed doesn't allow the car to start.

First problem is with the stock radio, the time/station does not show up when the car is on and all I get for sound is static with a beep noise.  It will beep twice, pause, beep once, pause, and repeat.

The 2nd problem is the courtesy lights, for fuse #11, there is a wire that comes out of the side and goes into a new clip that plugs in and it holds two fuses.  With the fuse in one spot, it seems like nothing is different, with it in the other spot it acts like the fuse was in the #11 slot alone.  With the fuse in the slot, the courtesy lights go on and will stay on and the reminder ding keeps going off.

It almost seems like the courtesy lights are due to this alarm thingy cause of the extra wire in the fuse box that go to 11, but the radio seems to be a separate problem, maybe with the "Multi-Function Alarm Module" whatever or wherever that is.

Does any one have any insight on how to go about solving this issue?  I have already considered professional removal of the aftermarket alarm thing, but I would like to stay away from that for right now.

Edited for spelling issues.

Try unplugging the "dinger" module and plugging it back in.  This solved a problem I had with my Roadmaster with the interior lights staying on and the "dinger" sounding all the time.

I have an idea that it has something to do with this remote keylock/starter kill "alarm" thingy.  The problem for the radio turned out to be the orange always on wire.  I ran a new wire and now I have a radio.   I do plan on taking the car to a local alarm shop and have them check it out, but if it will save me close to $100 to fix it myself, it is well worth it.

What am I looking for and where would I look for the "dinger" module?

It has been so long away from the Beretta that I have forgotten so much,  though it only took me about 15 minutes to realize why I like the car this much!!!

Find where the sound is coming from.  Then unplug it.  Its up under the dash on the drivers side IIRC.

Well if you leave the fuse taps in does it not screw up the lights/dinger? Then just leave it in, unless you want to remove the keyless/security card thign.

The dinger chime thing is a pink plastic box IIRC. It should be the same color as mine (94) I would think.

My car has aftermarket cruise and aftermarket GM keyless. They spliced into wires on mine allthough didn't secure them very well. But I don't have any fuse taps except one for the cruise, and one I put there for my trunk release. I do have a ton of wires under the drivers side dash though! Rex saw them!
