Just what the topic says.  Does anyone sell, or has anyone made and have pictures of a 3100 / 3400 idler pulley bracket to replace the AC compressor?

I thought no one sold one.  I just wanted to double check, because I had a few hours last night at work and made one out of some scrap aluminum sitting around.  I'll load up some pics to my website later on.

I don't think anyone sells one as a common "performance" part. If I've heard of one it's been a custom one off for the person doing it only...

GM sells one for like $30, it is called something funky like a Water pump pulley, but is actually the AC Delete pulley.

Really? Fits the 3x00 motors with the new style compressors? Keep in mind the 3.1MPFI had a different moutning and different compressor.

I thought all 3x00 motors had A/C stock.. I know it was stock on all L bodies...

I knew there was one for the Quad.  This should be put in the FAQ if it isn't already there.

Scott, I have one for the 2.8/3.1.  I can take it off and send it to yo to see if it works.  Is there a hole there for one?

Do you have the GM part these guys are talking about or do you have a homemade one?

What do you mean by a "hole there for one?"

If it bolts up like the AC compressor does in this picture, http://60degreev6.com/Articles/Misc/fam ... 043100.jpg - it should work for my application.

Does anyone have a picture of this thing?

In '88 and some later V6s that were not GT's AC was an option.  They provided a pulley that mounted to the timing chain cover to take up some of the slack between the water pump and crank pulleys.  Not that it is really needed, but was grooved and probably helped from the belt slipping off during higher rpms.

I'll take a pic of mine since the engine is out and sitting on the garage floor.

I still continued to miss something or don't understand this.  Why does everyone ask for one of these, is it really that difficult to just get a shorter belt for non A/C? Do some not have a belt tensioner, is there something else?  I continue to be lost on this?

2 reasons, I'm pretty sure, without going back out there and looking under the hood again...

1 - you lose almost all water pump contact
2 - not verey sure, but I think part of the bracket bolting through the timing chain cover that the motor mount on that side attaches to, that bracket interferes with the path the belt would take if the AC were eliminated... if thats the case... i think you might be able to hack part of it off...??? I really haven't looked at it in that aspect in a long time and the car is currently stored 60 miles away in a garage.

Norm, can you see a hole in the cover where it should go on the picture I linked to in the last post?

I looked at this picture, http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_im ... 1_full.jpg from my car domain page and it does look like there is a bolt hole where I think you will put that pulley, but i'm not sure if it's being used by that bracket for the motor mount.  Its been a while since I saw that part of the engine closely... and I'm getting very old and my memory is fading.

Gates and Delco both actually list a belt for a 2.8/3.1 with a/c delete.
Gates # K060615 ( 25-060615 in Canada )
Delco  #6K615
For those of you how can't read a belt, that is a 6 grove belt, 61 1/2 inches long.
And yes, you have to watch water pump contact. It's rather minimal.
That is why GM came out with the delete pulley (Part number 10044867).
It allows use of the standard belt, whatever the hell length that is.

Scott, here is where it locates on the 2.8/3.1.  Unfortunately the garage has been cleaned out and the pulley is gone.
