Why are you still on SP2?
As for the missing file. I would go online and look for the latest driver, run the install from that. But update your XP to SP3 first and make sure the latest windows updates are installed. Its at least one thing that could cause these issues.

the ipaq i have is the rx3115. it runs windows mobile 2003se.
thanks lolwut.....thats exactly where i got the drivers from.
i'll try the update to service pack3 if that doesnt change the compatibility with the ipaq since it is so old. its a shame they abandoned them, its a cool little tool to have when you are out and about if you dont like android or apple. mobile word, excel, a few games and an opera browser.
what i thought might be cool is to load linux on it but i'm not familiar enough with it to try. i'm kinda handicapped with it until i can get the drivers installed anyway.
if you guys have any suggestions on hacking or something i can goof around with that would be cool too. its ancient i know but still fun. and i only paid 40 bux plus 15 for a new battery i need to order.
would updating to sp3 change anything with my wireless connection settings??

Shouldn't. If anything it will help improve some of the security. May want to disable or uninstall your AV before doing the SP3 though.

You realize that Android is Linux right? So you want to load Linux onto a horribly outdated piece of hardware that you paid 65 dollars for? you could buy an EVO for that from Craigslist that's exponentially faster, and actually used it for something useful lol.
I'm not sure I would bother,, but have fun!

i'm still running xp b/c the laptop i use came with it(another craigslist purchase). xp is comfortable too. i used to drool over macs back in college b/c thats what we used for my computer graphics major. i learned photoshop 5.5 on a g3 if that tells you anything.
android and linux are the same thing? didnt know that. i always thought they were different platforms.
its a just a time waster really. it does NES and sega emulators, the wife loves excel too.

Dude just for fun get Malewarebytes and run a scan. AV's don't always pick up everything.

i have MB, avast, and superantispyware. would malware files block the drivers from loading or cause the .dll to not show up during install?

I was thinking more in the lines of a fake warning. Sorry these days I live in fear.

I just use Avast on all my systems. Never have problems. But no program is 100 percent, I don't care who or what it is. lol

XDA Developers is usually good for pretty much any PDA/smartphone. Found this thread off the bat, full of (what looks to be) helpful stuff:

... and that's about the only helpful thread in the first 5 search result pages.
