I think Clutch problems.....?

Ok rebuilt longblock about 500 miles ago, new clutch set, pressure plate and used the OLD internal slave cylinder (new one leaked while bleeding, defective) so slapped on old slave.

Ok now that you know that, the problem, I get a tapping sound coming from the tranny area. Goes away when clutch is disengaged (clutch pedal in) and noise comes back when clutch edgaged (clutch pedal out).

Noise has always been there since the car was reassembled after the engine rebuild. If I play with the clutch pedal in and out the noise becomes quiet...still there though. Also, it tends to come when the car has been on for awhile. Atleast thats what I've noticed.

Here is a video of the noise....not much picture but the noise is there.

Anyone had something similar happen to them.

This is on a 1994 Quad 4 Z26.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I might add, the vehicle runs and drives perfect...just for that noise.

all bolts were torqued down for sure? all stock bolts were used no 'slightly different' replacements? almost sounds like a bolt head nicking something. if it goes away when pedal is pressed in, could be to do with throw out bearing?

I can't watch the video now, but I got a slight noise that changed pitch with pedal when my inspection cover was not perfectly straight and the flywheel rubbed. It was so slight that the flex in the flywheel was enough to change the sound.

The other thing it could be is the "input shaft rattle" common to Getrags which is normal.

i never had a noise in my quad z26, and i had that motor out 4 times, my best guess is either something is loose, throwout bearing is going bad, or as was said, you use the wrong bolts??? if it was me, id tear it apart before you damage something.

Wrong bolts? No every bolt was put in its original location. I dont think its engine noise, I can hear it in the tranny area.

Thanks for the help, was looking for pointers. I was leaning towards loose bolts somewhere....but the more I drive it the more I think its the TOB. Slapped on old slave to get the car running and break-in the engine. I can make the noise completely go away by messing with the clutch pedal.

Going to try and take it apart this weekend and slap in a new slave cylinder.

I"ll post my findings when this is taken apart.
