my beretta has been sitting almost 3 years. it also has a full tank of gas in it. I want to get almost all of it out so i refill it with fresh gas later on. how can i get it out easily? other than poking a hole in the tank or siphoning it? i see those handheld pumps at walmart but thats gonna take all day to do. any suggestions?

find the fuel pump relay and trip it so the pump will pump the fuel out for you, just take the fuel line and stick it in a gas jug.

Don't knock the handheld piston pumps from WalMart. I used one of them to drain out 10+ gallons of gas from my Mopar minivan a couple of years back (in order to lighten the tank) when I replaced the fuel pump module. You'd be surprised at the volume of fluid that they move per stroke. Those pumps are also great for pumping out tranny fluid prior to dropping the pan to change the filter, as less fluid in the pan means less of a mess when you loosen the bolts.

Berettas do not have a test port to se if the fuel pump primes? If they do use that and unhook the fuel line feed from the engine and keep constant power to the wire till its all out, Normally on cavaliers the port is right by the drivers side bulkhead connector

some do some dont... I know they pulled it off the 96, not sure why and I know it was there on a 94-95, but I do not know if it was there for the older years, so I didn't want to send him on a wild goose chase without knowing for sure.
