GTZ got towed but they said they used dollies to take it. I drove it him and it seemed fine.

I dropped it off to get an alarm installed and after getting it back it now doesnt go into 5th or reverse. What could it be?

Shift cable.

Select cable stretched or something. When it's in first does the shifter look like tilted to the center of the car more than usual?

Did they take your car for a joy ride and break your cables? I would kill them if they did.

Definitely your one shift cable. same thing happened to me twice. I actually converted over to another type of cable

I havent had a chance to look at it yet, my z24 has a leaking oil pressure switch

So should I check near the tranny or just where the shifter is?

I know my way around an engine but not a tranny. So will I most likely need new cables?

I would check and just make sure one of the ends hasn't popped loose, either in the console or at the tranny.

I can sell you a whole shifter and set of cables

I'm willing to bet they hid some wiring in your shifter console area and popped a cable loose on accident and forgot to replace it. Alternatively, they could have done the same thing on the trans arm area if they were in that area. Either way I'd go STRAIGHT back to them and make them look at it and fix it as the car was a-ok when dropped off and NOT when picked up.

Yea I called them and they said they pulled it in fine but after they finished they noticed it. But they said they didnt mess with any of the shifter cables.

Over on quad4forums someone stated its a bad cable since I still have gears 1and 2. But if I only had 3 and 4 then yes it just slipped off.

I didnt get a chance to look at it since I was fixing the z24 but where can I get a new cable?

Actually you can still get new cables. I did but it was a mistake cause like all new things, they weren't made nearly as well as the original and ended up binding up after 2 weeks so I got some from a junkyard. Wow you have the same problems my GTZ had. I had to change the oil pressure switch and then the shift cables twice in the first year I had her.

I have a back-up set of cables for my car, and mine uses a different style cable then yours. But out of curiosity, where did you buy these new cables?
