I am sorry if i am getting annoying with all the posts i am just trying to get to know my car and the Beretta better. I decided to do just a quick vin check on my indy, so what i am wondering is if it should show up as an Indy or as a GT? I am guessing it is because it is the replica but this is what i got.

Well, they were GTs till C&C got them and converted them to the GTU package.... So... That may be correct? I don't know for sure though. There are a couple of people who know better about the VIN records, such as Kyle Anderson.

My GTU's vin is the same way, I'm guessing its what DMTAce said.

As long as there is a C&C sticker your good, but yes it will probably show up as a GT as far as how it was "Built" from GM

Indy's were built in house and not C&C like the GTU. It is an RPO and not a model as it is a GT.
There are many other differences in the Indy than GTU.
Seating and interior panels
FE7 suspension

Unless it was ever repainted.
I thought GTU's got special suspension as well, if i recall the old magazines tested the GTU and it pulled more g's on the skid pad.

well if what is said is right there wont be a C&C sticker, but that is typically under the trunk lid, the RPO code will be on the spare tire cover if you can still read the lettering.

As for the suspension, The indy got the same live acting front swaybar as the GTZ not the large control arm mounted bar the the GTU had.

What Erich said stands true. Your car is technically a GT.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but from what I gather GTU's are just GT's in drag? that's kinda disappointing. And Indy's are a GTZ-GTU hybrid? I sort of wonder why GTU's seem to sell for more than GT's then, cause they're rarer, nicer looking and people don't know that they are just a GT in drag?
Did the GT's get the control arm mounted sway bar as well? Is there anything that GTU's got that GT's didn't?
I'd have to bet your Indy is legit though, most people aren't going to clone a Beretta into a Indy.

I don't know how it's disappointing that your GTU is a GT according to the VIN. What were you expecting it to be? lol I wish GM would have done all the specialty work in house, because all C&C did was F*** things up...
An Indy isn't a GTU/GTZ Hybrid, it's a GT with Indy parts.
GTU's sell for more simply because of rarity and they look cool, just like an upgraded model of any car.
Only the W26 GT's got the control arm mounted sway bar, and those were available only in 1992.

Exactly... A GTU may sell for more than a GT simply because it is a model up from the GT. Just like any other car models that are the "higher standard", they will sell for more.
Rare? NO ONE outside of this community cares about the rarity of these cars. And even then, I would say that half of this community could care less for the value of the slight bit of rarity involved with the Beretta models/parts.

(DTMAce) surprisingly you can still read the lettering but I cannot find out where it would be. But I know the car has to be an original indy because the guy who owned her before did body work but it seems like he never took the interior out. But thanks to everyone who replied. And I don't mind if you take over the post. It gives me something to read. And I can learn more about my car this way.
