i'm not sure if anyone here has ever spent the money to have one professionally repaired by an upholstery shop. many just live with what they have, cover it up, buy a dash pad or cap, or custom fiberglass/repair. i have heard it's hard to find one in a wrecking yard in good shape, but there's still some floating around.

that's up to the individual upholsterer to decide, and also whether or not you like what the outcome (and price for that matter) is! there are 'stitches' there, so something could be done, it really depends what is going on underneath.

Its vinyl, it's shrunk and pulled up from the dash, there is no way to "fix it" without re-covering the whole thing with new vinyl... or a different material. As Berettaboi said its up to the upholster to decide if it can be done, AND that really depends on what you want as an end product.

I have an idea.
Remove dash. Drill a hole in dash behind bubble. Fill with epoxy. Install tube fitting in hole and pull a vaccume on the cavity until the epoxy dries

The vinyl is dry shrunk and brittle, it will not stretch that much and will most likely crack. I also doubt you'll get a vacuum on it since the vinyl is attached with a foam backing.
When a dash bubbles you only have the option of having it professionally re-covered or throwing a dash cap over it unfortunately. And the re-covering is probably the best way to go since it will come out the best, BUT it will cost an good chunk. But look at it this way, the stitched area on the dash could actually be REAL and not just a mold.
This sounds more like an idea for a full professional restoration though.
I'm glad the dash from my 95 survived in storage and I am using that now... But if my dash ever does bubble I'll have it professionally re-done.

93-96 dashes are easy for me to find in perfect shape. Their everywhere here. Finding a 91 to 92 dash is hard. What would it cost to have redone?

When I open an upholstery shop I'll get you a quote hows that sound?
Speedy you need to ask a professional for the task you want completed to get a price on this... Berettaboi already pointed that out 3 posts ago, I don't know why your still asking US how much it will cost.

the price could also change drastically between different upholsterers (the ones that dont want to touch it, they will charge 4 digits, the ones that are looking for something to do/bored, will charge in the 3 digit range likely) ... just pop in to a local shop one day and ask him to come outside and take a look.

My dash on my 1990 GTZ has been professionally restored by Dashboard USA in Oregon.
I had to remove the entire dashboard, package it up to include anything that touches the dash (windshield defrost vent, gauge cluster bezel, door defrost vents, A/C vents, radio bezel, glove box, light and wiper control switches, speaker covers, fuse panel cover) It cost me approximately $150.00 to ship and approximately the same to ship it back. The site at the time said approximately 5 week turn around and about $550.00 for the restoration. The price remained the same but took about 8-9 months to get the dash back. If I recall the owners name is Pete. We were in constant contact throughout the process. It turned out to be a bit more difficult than anticipated and he did make a comment that he did not realize the type of dash it was. Something to that effect. I think he was commenting on the construction of the dash.
Luckily I am a very patient person and all I was concerned with is QUALITY. When I finally got the dash back I was nervous to unpack it as I did not have any pics of the final product. But, I was VERY happy with the dash.
Dashboard USA 360-892-4075 ask for Pete (I think that's his name) Just talk to him and discuss it. He may be reluctant to do another beretta. Never know. My 90 GTZ was done about 21/2 yrs ago.
I am a new member and joined a month or so ago I'll take a pic and try to upload.
