how do i reset the tps on a 98 malibu? 3100sfi

so my friends malibu threw a code and came up as the tps, we replaced it but nothing changed, i remember there being a way to reset these things but i dont remember how to do it, i had to do it on the quad z26, does anyone know how? should be the same princible as a beretta being a 3100sfi motor. any help or tips would be appreciated, i searched google but no luck.

Unhook your battery for a couple minutes ... then plug back up and do idle re-learn

Never heard of resetting it... Have you checked the wiring to the ECU to ensure nothing got chewed by some engine bay inhabitant?
Scan the ECU pids and see what the TPS reads when you open and close the throttle thats another way to test the wiring or try to see what the issue really is.

On obd2, you need to reset it with a code reader device or you can just give it time.
If it was the TPS and you put on a new one, it may take a few miles for the computer to recognize it working OK again
then the light will go off.

I have replaced corroded throttle position switches.

I have OBDII and never had to reset the TPS or had an issue similar to this.

Think maybe hes trying to reset the CEL ? stored trouble code reset?

I was the one that changed it. I cleared the code which didn't pop up again. I guess we will unhook the battery, do an idle relearn and drive it a bit and see if the car gets better. Thanks for all the help so far
