so heres the story, i was on my way home from the junkyard thursday and i saw a beretta along side the road at a garage filled up with scrap metal, my gf wanted some mint 94+ tails and fillers so i stopped to ask about them, the guy said $10 i could take whatever i wanted, so i grabbed the tails and fillers and was about to leave when i seen a 91 grand am gt in the row of what appeared to be cars ready for scrap, i asked and it turned out to be a h.o. quad 4 5spd, all complete except the idi cover, the car had been sitting since 2001, and was mostly a pile of rust, the guy said $350 i can have it. so i bought it.. now onto the fun part.

*warning, the pics are graphic, for you haters, there was no title, just a bill of sale and it was far to rusty to ever see the road again!*

all i wanted was the engine(for parts or rebuild), trans, axles, and shift cables.

heres the car itself, we broke the front bumper to put a tow bar on to get it home.

heres some progress.

again, the car was in disrepair, on its way to scrap, and i had a very short window to get this thing and get rid of it as i already have 4 vehicles. figured id share with you guys.

car cost- $350
gas- $30

what i got back, $220 from the car for scrap, $56 for the wheels(had i scrapped them, but my gf wants them, and $50 for something else. all in all, i paid a total of $380, and got $326 back. so figure $24 for an engine, axles, shift cables, and tranny, not to bad if you ask me?

Who scrapped it for you without a title? Getting rid of a title less shell is like impossible in pa

barry, if you cut a car in half, or in a few peices as we did, its nothing but a pile of scrap metal, no one will even question it.

Thats when they should question it the most since you could have stripped a car and now just scrapping the shell.

That wouldnt fly around here... I have tried. There is not a single scrap yard within 100 miles of me that will take a car with no title. The only way to do it is to cut it into pieces so small they dont know its a car.

I usually take whole cars in as scrap without titles. Derby cars.

that's one thing though.. it's kinda clear what it was used for.

this however could be stolen (obviously with his case it isn't).

when i got rid of the Z26 i called the first local place and they sent someone out the next day to pick it up. but they would have taken the car with or without the title.

I was in NC when my bro-in-law scrapped the 95Z without the title in hand. The yard said it was old enough that it didnt really matter.
