Transmission woes...

Mine is toast. Found used one w/70k on it for $400, shop will charge $900-1,000 if I take mine out and have them rebuild it. So I guess I'll try to buy the used one before it's gone if I can!

Anyway, should I also replace the torque converter? And if so, which one should I get? Reading online I see several options and each one listed has a different stall then what I thought my stock one was. Keep in mind, my car sits with several grand in hail damage on it right now and it will be driven 100+ miles a day. So what torque converter/stall would you recommend (keeping performance and gas mileage in mind)?

get the torque converter with trans. If not get a new one.

My guess it that the stock stall would be best for highway(if it's flat). I use a GP converter because I do alot of around town driving. Also I have the GP trans so it would be hard to know what that converter would do with your FDR.

1650 is stock... 2095 is not a bad upgrade... I used to run that in my 95 when I did the trans.

I'm pretty much happy with the upgrade. Still I wish that I had a bit more FDR. Oh well the car is nice on the highway and better than stock.

Looking at parts store O Reilly's they have 3 listed...2095, 1895, & 2060 stall.
Trying to figure out which one I should go with...

My man in mechanic, so I get parts discounts locally.

As I said, 2095 or 2060 will be fine.

I never even thought of upgrading the converter. Think I'm gonna do this once I get my new trans. Thanks!

Got my (low mileage used) tranny in and so far so good. It came with TC so I didn't have to buy one :) $300 and I still have to take old one back to get my $75 core charge.

Drove the car for one day (it's been sitting since I first started this thread) and now my ABS light is on.Guess I won't be taking it on the 4 hr drive this weekend (just to be safe) lol
