hey my name is cory im new to the forum. i just got a 90 gtz its got 215000 on all the main and rod bearings were replaced in September of last year other then the regular maintenance is all original. i have to say shes still got heart. runs smooth and clean. after i find my camera ill post some picks. but i use forums for all my car when i need help so i found this one. any way im new to the quad engine im do it your self mechanic so i know my way around an engine ok but i am not a professional. any i was wondering if there were any things i should know about these cars. any known defects or things that are known to go wrong. also i know these cars are known have very noisy engines and i was wondering if a ticking\knocking noise coming from the head is normal i hear these cars have bigger cams in them compared to most four cylinder cars and sound like that. now for the good part after i bought the car and was showing it off to a buddy he tells me that he has an olds cutlass calais with the same engine that he had professionally rebuilt about two years ago but he never put it the rest of the way together its just the engine and tranny in the engine bay the intake and ehaust mannys are in the car and the timing needs to be assembled. he that hed sell it to me for $50 and my mountin bike wich is a $900 bike i said deal he showed me all of the receptes for all the parts and labor. so i have to figure out how to get the car to my dads land so i can swap the engine and trannys. but that will be awhile from now but i have every part i will ever need. any way thanks for listening to my story

JESUS!
Take $50 and give it to your friend!
A rebuilt engine, of any kind, is worth more than $50!!!!
P.S If it was done right LOL

Ticking in the upper end is usually a stuck lifter or the lifters not getting enough oil.

Could you post a video of it so we can hear it? Does it make the noise more, less, or the same when the RPMs go up?
The pin stripe should just be a sticker. Just buff/wax the car afterwards to make sure it didn't leave a mark on the paint.

3M general purpose adhesive remover... I pulled the stickers off my car when I got it... Even though the paint was coming off. It was also one less thing for the painter to strip off before painting it. And the 3M will not damage your paint, but I suggest trying to remove the stickers in the sun if possible, makes them more pliable, and then if you can use the 3M in the shade so it will have time to soak. If you spray it on in the sun it just evaporates quickly and doesn't break down the adhesive. But that combined with a bondo spreader works great.
