Well I scored a bit for never being there I found a 92 Corsica 3.1 but scored 2 z26s a 94 purple one and 95 black one and they have 3 bases one 89 base with a 2.8, and 2 95s and it was funny cause they are all red, but that 92 Corsica I found is quasar blue haha, I also found an older achieva sc 5 speed but someone cut the shifter cables and rest of motor and tranny out of it, also found a lumina z34 with a 3.4 DOHC it's all complete!! Bumper to bumper of anyone needs parts it's red, and in nice shape underneath is shot in the rear, I'm gonna try to get the motor and harness and computer out of it be nice to stuff in a beretta

I have to at least try if I have to cut some thing and re weld it that would be fine, when I found the 89 I was hoping it was a gt and a 1988 because if so I was gonna buy the rear sway bar

im sick of people saying these things cant be done! if you have the time, money, and tools go for it! worst that could happen is it wont work. if you can fit a northstar in a 3rd gen j body, anything can fit. haha

Oh yeah I created a northstar into beretta thread but would probably be a pain which is why I wanna attempt the 3.4l DOHC it's a beast and it's not as long but I need to find out if the ever made a getrag for a v6 cause I know they pit them in the older grand prixs but not sure if they were isuzus or getrags

I guess really a beretta engine bay ain't much different than a cavi, so I wonder how hard one would be to pull of, gimme a cutoff wheel and welder and hammer and I can build anything

And the steering rack is in a different place on those J bodies.

That car has a completely custom subframe. Being the northstars mount to it instead of the body. And for the getrag question, all 5 speed trannys from a v6 or quad 4 in the berettas were getrags, and will bolt up to 3.4 or the northstar

That car is also scrapped...
He had shift cables break on him and there were tire clearances that were affecting what he wanted to do with it and a few other items he mentioned in his J-body thread.
Yes this can be done there is no question about fitment but as I say over and over again, no one has ever justified the reason for doing swaps this aggressive and in depth other than to say I have a V8 FWD car... Which sometimes that doesn't even last that long.
If you really want to know how much went into this car, read on.

The biggest thing you need to do when thinking about swaps is RESEARCH the aftermarket for the engine you want to do... It would be a complete shame if you put something in there and then barely have any aftermarket to modify it afterwards... Just remember that part.

here we go, another topic gone to hell, and another person telling everyone they shouldnt do whatever it is they want to do or it cant be done... so not everything worked for the kid, dont mean it isnt do-able, just means he wasnt happy with it, now, you learn from his mistakes and do it a little better, ya know, there was a time when it was said v6 couldnt go in a quads engine bay, yet it was done, there was a time when people said you couldnt put a 2.4l in where a 2.2l was, that was done... the 3800 supercharge swap was done on several beretta's of different years and that was said to be impossible.. so why cant someone put a v8 in theres??? hell, look at barry, he's going rwd!!!!

I just don't believe that going to a 3.4dohc or a 3800 is a necessary swap... 3400's and 3500's turbo'd or SC'd that bolt right in can produce the same if not more power than those combinations that may take years to fabricate a setup to hold the engine depending on how much time/money you have to throw at it. That's my only point, If he wants to be different go for it but god dammit document what you do and don't fall off the face of the earth otherwise I will still hold up my statement about those swaps. That's the other biggest issue... Everyone says they've been done but no one has documented what to do so every time someone asks we have to simply say good luck, its "been done" but we have no idea what was done or the quality of the work.
Plus he's talking about a 3.4DOHC motor NOT a V8
hence this comment

There isn't much aftermarket out there for a 3.4DOHC.

is there even a chip out there I know there ain't much for internals but there has to be a chip, cause there's no way someone hasn't modified one in a factory w-body grand prix gtp or Monte carlo before

I just wish for our sakes we could get our hands on the feretta because its a northstar based motor or the awd v8 beretta and take those designs and design parts for direct swaps in our cars but that will never happen so I might as well quit talking out of my ass
