I been reading up on a.c posts and have a few questions. I had my a/c compressor out to put a new clutch assembly on and put it back in, had my system vacuumed out when I did it. Now I cant find the low side pressure service port its a 91 3.1. Maybe Im missing it on the line or is it the one on the accumulator. If so it looks like someone has an adapter on it which means they probably already converted it to r134a? I would have had the shop do it but I wanna learn how to do whatever I can myself instead of paying someone. Can anyone help here?

i think those are close to the ac compressor on the line. it may be horizontal facing the driver side. if its not there follow the lines.

Thanks for the tip but It was def not on the line, I found it on the A/C dryer canister. I think the guy I got it from said it was converted over, and it had the r134a fitting on the canister. I charged it with 18oz cans of Artic Freeze r134a. If anyones looking to do this soon harbor freight has the 18oz cans for 24.99 while autozone and oreilly have it for 34.99

Hey, how much refrigerant does our cars take? There is a store near me selling 12oz cans of r134a for $6 and I need to know how much it'll take to charge a dry system.

1988: 2.75lbs
1989-1991: 2.25 lbs
1992: 2.63 lbs

Now remember that if you don't vacuum out the air(if there was a leak) then you will not get that much in.

Well I'd say that those numbers for R22. I guess that could be a base to go off of for R134a. Just not the right numbers.
As with the Artic Freeze and their gauge always try to match the outside temp.

The company idqusa.com, that sells 90% of the stuff at auto stores. Artice Freeze, A/c Pro, Sub Zero, all comes with optional "smart charge" gauges that have a trigger and hose and are re useable. You set the gauge to the ambient outside temp and fill until its in the charged zone. Easier if you don't want to do it by weight.

They do work, but watch out they sometimes leak compresser oil down the trigger.
