a 1991 GT I found

I sell cars at a dealership and another salesperson had a couple who were both looking for new cars. As i pulled in with my GTZ he said that's the same car I want to trade in! I later found out it wasn't the same but still a Beretta lol. He found out he wouldn't get anything if he traded in on a new Focus so I told him I would come take a look at it since I need a daily driver so my GTZ isn't a target for crazy drivers as much. It is a 1991 Beretta GT in bright red (same year and color as mine) it is automatic with a 3.1L and the hood is damaged from a deer. it has a little rust hole in the rocker panel on the passenger's side in front of the back wheel but inside the door jams are perfect. the dash is better than mine and the interior isn't too bad. the engine has leaky valve cover gaskets but runs like a champ for 160,000. I drove it and it rode great. Just got inspected a couple days ago. He is asking $1000 for it but told me to make an offer cause he wants it to go to me. Is it a good candidate for a DD and what is everyone's opinions on what I should pay?

here are a few pics...

I would buy it for 1000 if it has no problems mechanically. Maybe offer 900? Looks good.

Yeah, I'd just give them the $1000 for it. Looks pretty clean other than the deer damage.

the interior isnt too bad and it has the same dash as mine but isn't warped and has only a little bubble unlike my GTZs. I drove it around for a awhile and the fan works and the oil pressure is good and doesn't overheat. it has leaky valve covers so all the gaskets should be changed and could probably use a tune up. the transmission shifts smooth and no engine light. one thing i love is it doesnt have the firewall leak unless it is very mild. i still need to fix the one in my GTZ

Looks and sounds good. Since he is open to offers I would offer $750 and see what happens.

I'd say $900. Just remember that the timing chain needs to be changed if it has not been done.

Didn't think of the timing chain part.. Be sure to post more pics on here if you get it.

Damn, I should really change mine soon lol ~23 years old and 174k miles.

Did the deer damage anything else on it? Looks like just the hood and the passenger headlight looks push back a bit from the pics.

Yeah you better get on that GTU89. It's by far a ticking time bomb. It could go 200k but when it goes it's time for a rebuild or a new engine. I sure hate to see a good running 2.8/3.1 go down because of a timing chain.

Well I went back today again and we agreed on $500...I am picking up the GT on Friday...now it's time to get the GTZ parked in the garage and start my to-do list. I am excited that she wont be racking up miles and being a daily target anymore. I will still be taking her out to play ;) Now I have two bright red '91 Berettas...it is an obsession I tell ya :D

There's a 93 gt 3.1 MPFI 5 speed that's white in the junkyard I worked for over here near me in cochranton I asked my boss how much and he said $500, only bad part is it's rotted to hell I'm probably gonna get it and make a stock car out of it

Rusted out car isn't really a great starting spot for a race car.

To the OP, great purchase 500 dollars is an incredible deal for that car.

Thanks! I will post pics up when I get her a bit cleaned up. I have to try and remember that this is a daily driver and to only focus on the GTZ. I have a problem with getting attached to them and will want to fix it all up too...i will still take care of it ;) First thing to do when I bring it home...clean it!!!!!

I have the same problem, I get attached quick, that's probably why I've sold only 1 vehicle out of the 10 that I've had and partially still have but I had to call it quits although I didn't want to with the Z26 didn't have the patience to get it done cause it had to pass our good ol Pa inspection cause it was wrecked and had to be factory correct but my dad finished it should be done in 2 or 3 weeks I thought about buying it back cause it was really clean, only thing it needed was a pass side frame rail in the back
