turbocharging a 1992 GTZ 3.1L?

Post by 31GTZ92 »

Hi guys I am new, just joined.  First I would like to thank Rex for getting me addicted to berettas.  After watching his car vids they just got me hooked.  The thing I was wondering is if I can turbocharge my 1992 GTZ 3.1L(T).  My mom and dad recently bought it for $800 because of gas and they wanted something alittle easier on it.  I am going to hopefully receive the car sometime in october and wanted to add some performance and was wondering if anybody could give me tips on how to do so.  Also I wanted to know if I was to buy one of those import type mufflers if it would sound good or not on a V6.  Thanks for your time and help.   Jon

Welcome.
You can do anythig with it. Just use the search. Look at the stickys above you to also help you. Just depends on how much your willing to spend.

Summit has some good mufflers. Ultraflows are nice.

Hey Jon, welcome Yeah, Rex has some good vids out there.  Honestly, pretty much anything on the 3.1L will sound good.  I saw a Cavalier running around with one of the import-type mufflers and it sounded great, not raspy or buzzy or hollow as on lower displacement cars.  I guess it just depends on styling and how well you want it to flow.  I've heard many of the import mufflers are very restrictive, even if loud.  My Dynomax Super Turbo flows and sounds great, as do the Ultraflows as mentioned above.  Congrats on a fun car
