Suspension and Steering System

Before attempting to diagnose the suspension and steering systems, perform the following preliminary checks:

  • Check the tire pressures and look for uneven wear.
  • Check the steering universal joints or couplings from the column to the steering gear for loose fasteners and wear.
  • Check the front and rear suspension and the steering gear assembly for loose and damaged parts.
  • Look for out-of-balance tires, bent rims and loose and/or rough wheel bearings
