If the noise sticks around for that long, I would think that you should be able to get your ear in there and get a really good idea of where the sound comes from.  Why keeping pulling it apart and reinstall everything if you can narrow down where the sound comes from?   Why play the guessing game?  ...

The Haynes Manual has full diagrams in the back of the book.  They are fairly easy to read even for someone that doesn't have any knowledge of electrical wireing.
