Re: Chevy Beretta FF
Amateur, what you're doing with your car is awesome. I don't know what I'm doing with my life or where I'll end up next, but that's the great part about it if you ask me The more you experiment with body work, electrics, and paint you might find you enjoy it and maybe do it as a job for a bit. You'r...

Re: 1988 Beretta GT Rebuild
I am very proud. It's awesome bombing around town in it. A lot of people I know don't recognize the car, so it's like being incognito. It doesn't look very nice right now. I used etching primer (camo green) to paint over the places where I ground the rust spots and in front of the left rear wheel we...

Re: 1988 Beretta GT Rebuild
Finally got my inspection sticker! :Yahoo!: It failed once for 10 things (8 of them being stupid, such as washer fluid wouldn't work [because it had been taken apart, the guy just needed to hold down the button a little longer to give the pump time to siphon enough fluid]), and the second time it fa...

Re: 1988 Beretta GT Rebuild
Update: The technician from the engine rebuild shop came yesterday and started the engine. It started the first try, but then a power steering line exploded. So now to fix the exhaust, brakes, that line and the windshield and it's going on the road!

Probe: 1988 Beretta GT parts car
I bought a 1988 Beretta GT (dark blue) automatic with the digidash for a parts car to finish my Beretta GT. As that project is almost done, it leaves me with the parts car. Is there any interest in parts from this car to finish your project?

Re: 1988 Beretta GT Rebuild
It's quite rare to see a blue 88. I've never seen one before. I'm eager to see it finished. =) That's funny that you haven't seen a blue 88 GT. There's one around town (an automatic), there's mine, and the parts car I bought (with the DigiDash) are all blue 88 GTs. If you want one, I think I could ...

Re: 1988 Beretta GT Rebuild
It's been a while since I've posted but some major things have happened to the rebuild. Last weekend I started working on the rusty hood. Got it sanded down to bare metal and primed it with etching spray. And, the most exciting of all was today I went up and got my rebuilt engine back!

Re: 1988 Beretta GT Rebuild
The engine is being completely rebuilt. It's going to be stripped, dipped, new cam, lifters, honing the heads, new gaskets, new rings, new bearings, and timing gears. Why is the 2.8 such a waste of time? It's served me very well in the tens of trips to and from PA, and driving in hard, Maine winters.

Re: 1988 Beretta GT Rebuild
As I was once in the same boat, it is amazing how much of that soul and personality you can transfer over from one car to another. I meant buying a completely different car. I was seriously contemplating buying a Subaru but doing the work was going to be more rewarding. Can't agree with rebuilding ...

Re: 1988 Beretta GT Rebuild
I always liked the thicker side molding on the older beretta's for some reason. I really like the silhouette and look of the Berettas, it's very unique. The back end especially is very aesthetically engaging. I'm an antique car enthusiast and it seems that modern cars look the same and I wonder wha...

Re: 1988 Beretta GT Rebuild
I'll be watching. I'm still a fan of the older cars. Well, you're in luck. Tonight my dad, boyfriend and I took some of the superfluous stuff of the engine in preparation of sending it off to be cleaned and the internal work done. I can't wait for it to come back clean, together and ready to go bac...

Re: 1988 Beretta GT Rebuild
Thank you! I will certainly keep posting pictures as progress happens. And, I will keep the parts thing in mind.Be sure to update when you can. Many people have parts sitting around so feel free to ask. I go to the junk yard once a month and may be able to find some parts.
