Hmm, interesting note on the '90 Berettas with their line restrictions... I don't recall ever having a problem with my '90 Turbo 'Retta punching it and dumping the clutch, except for the complete loss of lane-control (torque-steer was unbelievable on that car, even with the original 3.1 Turbo, partly because -I suspect- the '90 282 tranny used that long exposed jackshaft with the separate outer carrier-bearing rather than the older "housed" jackshaft, once I switched that style tranny out for the older version the torque-steer was ALMOST manageable...) :D
I also went with AN fittings and updated the clutch-line on the '95 "Quad-6" LQ1 Turbo Z, but more for thermal protection and longevity protecting it from the turbo's hot-side... And that car still ignores the Stage 3 Ceramic-puck clutch if I don't play nice while the turbo is spooled... And that car is FWD... And that same clutch-disc worked okay in the GTU with a ~275 HP and well over 300 ft-lbs torque from the modified 3800 SC...
So you think the clutch is engaging 'slower' than it should with reduced fluid back-flow, or is it more likely the 8.1's ridiculous torque is just laughing at the drivetrain behind it?

Yeah, look in the stock clutch hose and see if there is a bulb in it. That's the restriction. I show it here: https://youtu.be/ZZ9orfV3LIU?t=418

And yes, slow engagement is exactly the problem. You could feel the clutch "snap" on the flywheel once I eliminated that. Took a little re-learning of the pedal to sorta catch each gear change smoothly.

The truck had a quick connect fitting on the slave hose and on the master cylinder so neither would leak fluid when you unhooked them. But the weird plunger stud assembly to make sure they both opened when hooked together I'm sure restricted flow. I did find AN adapter fittings for it (Ford style actually for the ZF6) but didn't need to buy them. I was able to scooch the clutch hose up the firewall and eliminate the quick connects altogether, so the hose goes directly from the master to slave now. Just gotta find the time to throw those crap tires back on and do some burnies. But you can feel the difference in the pedal like I could with the Beretta. So I'm pretty sure it's solved...for $0...without dropping the trans.

There will be videos. haha

That is great, glad it came together so easily. Yes, I remember clearly the 'disconnect' fitting on my '90 'Retta. It hasn't been on there for years -I had hobbled a copper line and soldered the fittings onto it for a 'temporary' fix, that was over a decade ago and it is still fine, so yeah, maybe SOMEDAY it will get a 'permanent' steel line...
I am trying to remember now if that 'temporary' line was made back when I replaced the old engine-mounts... I found controlling the car to be very difficult due to torque-steer, as mentioned, and had attributed it to removing the 'slop' from the drive-train... But yeah, if that fitting restricts back-flow, that might have been more what I was experiencing, IF that line was installed then... I really don't remember, but I don't THINK it is that old? That would make it over 15 years ago... :Search:
