Add AUX audio input to your stock GM radio DIY

Hello,
A guy did a really good artical on how to add an AUX audio input jack to your stock head unit for under $10.
Guess its only 2 channels by the wires???
I have an extra radio so Im going to try this.

I did the same thing like 18 years ago in my old boombox (so I could hook it up to PC), but just wired it to cassette input instead of radio input like this guide does

Big time thread bump. I did this to mine over the winter, I still was able to get the radio shack p/n provided, I thought they were outta biz but I guess they are hanging on.

Using the p/n input jack shown is important because it has normally open and normally closed contacts. This allows you to listen through the aux when something is plugged in. If you unplug the cable from the aux jack them you can use the radio or even the cassette deck I believe! Now who has a cassette, or even knows what they are? That's a whole 'nuther topic.

My aux has some whine to it. In the instructions it states to hook the ground (shield) up on both ends which I did. Generally in my electronics experience you would only connect it on the source end, so this may correct it.

I did a similar mod, but instead of an aux jack, I put a Bluetooth chip inside of the radio, so now it's a Bluetooth radio, while still retaining the AM/FM and cassette functionality. No wires or cables or anything visible, it looks completely stock.
