Wow, thought it was the same as the Beretta. Looks like I won't be doing the swap.

You didn't read the Disclaimer in the upgrade procedure?heavywoody wrote: ***DISCLAIMER***
This upgrade will require you to have dual bolt pattern wheels, as doing this upgrade will change your wheel pattern in the front to 5x115.
Or even the procedure to realize you are swapping out knuckles bearings and all?

No, thought this was just another old topic where someone posts something close to the topic but not the same. Feel free to get rid of my posts.

Nope this is the how to pinned topic.
Note the key at the bottom of the forum
Sticky
It helps to have this in here as well because then hopefully others realize what you didn't if they skim the how to part quick.

Re: Upgrade To 12
Dropped the ball on this one, I always go back and look at the start of the topic. Not this time. I saw the new post and thought: hey some new hope for a brake upgrade. Sorry, guess I went crazy. Does the fact that this is a Sticky Topic mean that you can't get rid of my posts?

Re: Upgrade To 12
the 92-98 grand am was 5x100 but iirc none of them ever got rear discs from the factory.
which iirc it was setup pretty similar if not the same to the beretta.
Jon you can delete any of the posts i made. it dont matter. well except for the one where i added the weight and the thing about the grand am calipers anything after you can delete if you want.

what's the smallest diameter wheel you can use if you use stock n-body calipers and rotors instead?

15" for the stock N-body stuff and 16" for the f-body stuff.Wanako wrote:what's the smallest diameter wheel you can use if you use stock n-body calipers and rotors instead?

Re: Upgrade To 12
hehe ultra-sweet. I just wanted to know because if I ever do something like this, I want to keep some kind of 15" wheel on my car. My car is known for rockin' 15's.99GaGT3X00 wrote:15" for the stock N-body stuff and 16" for the f-body stuff.Wanako wrote:what's the smallest diameter wheel you can use if you use stock n-body calipers and rotors instead?
Either way, stock N-body hardware will still be a great improvement over whatever the L-body stuff can dish out. I suppose.
Thanks for the info, dude.

Yes it will. I'll be using this when I finally finish my setup. I got my new reman calipers so I just need to paint them before going in... but that's waiting till I get the trans all straightened out.Wanako wrote: Either way, stock N-body hardware will still be a great improvement over whatever the L-body stuff can dish out. Just remember, most of your stopping power comes from a pad and rotor combo too... Make sure to get good rotors to take the abuse, and get some nice pads. I'm using Hawk Black's Granted they will dust more but they bite like a MOFO.

Re: Upgrade To 12
Even my stock N-Body replacement pads and rotors from AutoZone are worlds better than the same on the original brake setup (mind you, I was coming from the smaller 87-91 ones)

Re: Upgrade To 12
Likewise. I'm on the 87-91 setup and those are terrible. Makes my 15's look big. Also, Heavywoody mentioned on his post that an "Adapter Sleeve" could be made to retain the 5x100 bolt pattern so there would be no need to swtich the hubs and axle ends. How would something like this look like? Anyone have an idea? It would be ideal, so I can keep my current wheels. I love my 15's if couldn't tell.Cliff8928 wrote:Even my stock N-Body replacement pads and rotors from AutoZone are worlds better than the same on the original brake setup (mind you, I was coming from the smaller 87-91 ones)

Re: Upgrade To 12
You would have to adapt the Beretta hub to the N-body knuckle and then also have the rotors re-drilled for the 5x100 pattern... That just sounds like too much custom work to me.

Re: Upgrade To 12
I would recommend a Subaru disc setup. 5x100 and will take some customization, but it may not fit 15" wheels. I tested my winter 16s and it was close.Wanako wrote:Likewise.
