AC Bypass pulley for 92 V6
Re: AC Bypass pulley for 92 V6
Of all the GM 60-degree V-6s I've owned, and all of them I've worked on, the only non-A/C one I've ever run across (we are talking dozens, even scores, probably not hundreds) was in a Beretta in the junk-yard -I wish I had grabbed the idler pulley...
The only other Beretta I ever ran across without A/C was a white '89 4-cylinder base -that was also the only Beretta I ever ran across that didn't have a rear-window defroster..
So, for the convenience of a computerized parts look-up, peace-of-mind knowing that the water-pump is getting good contact, and still being able to get rid of the unwanted, noisy A/C compressor, either the Dorman part and keep your old belt, or some appropriately-sized grooved pulley and an M12 bolt of some length appropriate for the pulley and buy the 'no A/C' belt... Or forgo two of the three and just measure for a shorter belt and write-down the part number or length and buy that one part.
1988GTU, can you see the part# on your belt? I don't currently have a noisy A/C compressor that I need to ditch, but I really don't bother with A/C either, so it might be something I would do in the future.
And I think there is enough interest in this conversion that other board-members might appreciate the info.

58.5 I think is what I used. I used the 3.1 MPFI timing cover and FFP UDP.
I swapped that same belt over to the 3500 with UDP. Was kind tight on the lx9.
Part number on the belt is long gone.
