You can still make a 3500 rip without a knock sensor, Im not using one. I just always use 93oct to be safe

I beleive you can use EGT to look for knock as well.

Tune it well and adjust ks sensitivity and you're set. Gear drive will work fine.

Good thought!

I still have the knock sensor and Rodney checks it regularly when messing with the timing on his laptop.

FWIW???

Yeah if you are trying to get the most out of it with spark, then you will want to monitor knock.

[quote="3X00-Modified"]Get Billy to build me a damn 4t60e! Until then he's NOTHING in my book... LOL!

$900 you supply the LSD.

He's done a few 4t60e's for the W-body guys and they love him.

DAMNIT... thats tempting... I have the LSD...

What would he charge to "rebuild" my current one? I can't see paying 900 for another whole transmission when the one I have is fine to work with.

Why don't you just leave a day early on the way to Chicago and he'll do it while we float in my pool?

In fact I'll get Marc and Jamie and Rodney etc over and have a party.

I'm curious as to what would be done to the trans.

I don't have the faintest idea.

It could all be Fairy Dust for all I know.

I DO know the W-Body folks up this way are pretty happy with some of the work he's delivered, along with the price.

As for as my own experience, what can I say.

Over 1000 runs and one broken axle that was 100% my fault.

I don't know if he does the stuff that Jeff does, but I know he takes 65e parts and machines some to fit in allowing for a stronger larger 2nd clutch pack.

As far as what Bill could do... IIRC the main clutch sprags alone can be swapped anyways from a 60e to a 65e, so that gives you standard sprags to ratchet sprags which are much stronger. I'm also sure he uses the 65e third Zpak that's out there since those interchange with no modifications and give you a stronger firmer 3ed gear shift. Beyond that I don't know... but thats some of what I'll be trying to do this year... If I ever finish the motor... LOL

Well I spent the afternoon yesterday learning about automatics.

Total waste of time! I still know NOTHING!

But Bill can build a hell of a 4t60e. His 4 door Regal 3800SC shifts at least as hard as my 3t40 and runs 13.30's on a what is a basically stock engine.

$1350 for cylinder heads?? Holy crap!

Interesting that the WOT ported 3500 heads actually flow the same as the "boosted/Nitrous" heads, and come with all the neat Manley stuff and the PAC springs installed.

Maybe this puppy will sneak into the 12's.

Your comparing WOT 3500 heads to which boosted/nitrous heads?

And yeah IIRC his heads come with springs valves retainers and everything ready to go, so when you add in the cost of the cylinder head, and the porting, the price isn't so bad after all...
