Very nice GTZ indeed! I know the feeling of having a free set of W41 cams. Actually, i got an unmolested free w41 motor and trans from a deal i made with a friend. Cant go wrong with free stuff
Nice work keepin her in great condition. Its always an awesome thing to see other people doing their best to maintain these cars

I hate that color! (It's the same as my ugly Camaro.) hahamichaelGTZ wrote:Very nice GTZ there! I just love the color of your car, one of my favorites!
But all these assembled Berettas are making me jealous.

The light hides the paint issues its starting to have pretty well. I need to get it in a shop in the next couple years. And it has the cancer which will need addressing. Makes me sad in the pants.

Take care of the cancer. I put it off for a couple years while I was busy playing with the other car and got bad enough for a trip to the crusher. Don't be stupid like me! hahaTravelor wrote:The light hides the paint issues its starting to have pretty well. I need to get it in a shop in the next couple years. Re: Simply Zed
Unfortunate to say that the Zed popped its head gasket this year, 50 miles shy of 200k...
Only 15k miles over 3 years? Guess that is what I get for letting a ford mechanic work on my car...
Tear down will commence in 2013, after I can get Mikes ass in gear! Its stored at his place after all.

Started pulling things apart today. Started with the engine bay like this:

And finished after futzing around for a couple hours with this:

I have some cleaning to do after this is all over, everything is so dirty! Pulled off the blower motor box because I really need to repaint it, I should have taken a picture of the leaf buildup that was inside.

Re: Simply Zed
We had some free time last weekend to start getting into the nitty gritty piece of the rebuild. Here is Mike having me learn by watching.

This shows the timing cover off, and the buildup that I was seeing.

With the cam gears off you can see just how much gunk was building up.

Always know what your car sounds like, if you don't and you ignore something like this you're gonna have a bad time.

Re: Simply Zed
Here is a picture of the block with the head removed. Little bit of carbon buildup I'll have to clean up before reassembly.

Checking the head for cracks, it will be getting pressure tested this week hopefully (still only have 65k on this 086)

Pretty W41 cam, just checking for uneven wear or other damage.

Head, valves and springs will be getting the cryo treatment (the head is the main item) and thinking I might also just get the cams done.
