Re: Unless you live in the area avoid this car
Wrong. This is a Quad, not a 3x00. It's ALWAYS the headgasket when the oil is milky.3X00-Modified wrote:Milky oil does not mean a bad headgasket... with these cars its ALWAYS the LIMG.
Re: Unless you live in the area avoid this car
Exactly and believe me the oil was milky. I know my GM motors and I know that is a common problem with the Quads. It is a shame about that car. It has potetntial but not for what they want for it.SuzukiGhostRider wrote:Wrong. This is a Quad, not a 3x00. Re: Unless you live in the area avoid this car
You are correct. Besides, there isn't even a LIMG on a Quad!

Re: Unless you live in the area avoid this car

Re: Unless you live in the area avoid this car
i dont understand why quads are hated though, they are by far the easiest motor ive come accross to work on, even though they are trouble some sometimes, most of the stuff is fairly simple to get to and self explanitory imo.

Meh, misunderstood by the masses and too much BS spread and believed by suckers. Like "all Quads have bad heads" for example........... Wrong. All Quads came from GM with faulty HEADGASKETS and the Felpro aftermarkets fix that problem. The 086 line of heads DOES have some weak castings, but yeah.
Rumor , suspicion, idiocy and bullshit lead to hate on the Quad. That and it rapes a stock V-6 in stock form.

If the quad is the easiest engine you've ever worked on - then you haven't worked on much at all... Nearly all 4 cyl OHV engines require half the thought and effort.

Re: Unless you live in the area avoid this car
i havent, most of the cars i owned where either v6's, or quad 4's ive worked on a lot of jeeps and and my dads f150, and some other little odd balls here and there, and still, the quad takes the cake in my book. and when i say ive worked on these, imean major work, engine and transmssion swaps, ect.

actually no, i used a large tree to get the engine off the back of the truck since i didnt have an engine hoist yet, let me ask you this my friend, if you dont have an engine hoist, how would YOU get the engine off the truck?

It's not all BS though, either. I had a quad and I'd never go back. hahaSuzukiGhostRider wrote:Meh, misunderstood by the masses and too much BS spread and believed by suckers. Re: Unless you live in the area avoid this car
Overlooked Quad being the engine. My bad. I keep forgetting that the 94 Zed could have come with a Quad or a V6...
Re: Unless you live in the area avoid this car
I have never been a fan of the Quad engines. I just know how rare a '94 Z26 is with that engine. I would much rather work on any of the V6 engines or the 4 bangers but man those things will run.
