Del-a-lum bushings for 87-93 control arms! **update pg5**
Re: Cool Hot Rod article
Have to see what kind of cost we are talking about, before I can commit to anything, but interest, sure.

Re: Cool Hot Rod article
So I sent my control arm and poly bushings out today to Global West. Doug is going to see about making these bushings again. I also asked that if he can remember, to specify where they added the small metal pieces to strengthen the control arms. I'd like to get a set of tubular arms made but I dont have those kinds of funds at the moment.
Hopefully this goes well!

Re: Cool Hot Rod article
I'm interested in bushings only, and would go in on a group buy if it would help to lower cost. As for the strengthening parts, I've got scrap steel at home.

Out of the blue, but any new word on this thread or did it just fall of the face of the earth...
Re: Cool Hot Rod article
Not dead, They have my control arms and are working on getting them made. The front bushing is done and Doug is tooling up a rear bushing so hopefully I'll have a set nin hand soon.
Sorry for not updating much.

Re: Cool Hot Rod article
Thats only for the horizontal versions right? I don't see that as a huge gain since a full poly setup is already available for that.
I would like to see something made for the 94+ ones. But thats just me.

Re: Cool Hot Rod article
Del-A-Lums are a substantial upgrade over poly. This has been proven on Lateral-G and Pro-Touring. I'm swapping the polys out on my Camaro once I do a teardown of that car. Would be interested for the Beretta too.

Re: Cool Hot Rod article
I don't know how a Del-A-Lum could even be made for the vertical bushings. The Del-A-Lums do not flex, period. And flex is the only way the verticals articulate, is it not?

Re: Cool Hot Rod article
The Poly ones have a conical hole down the center, the middle maybe 1" tall is the diameter of the center collar, but the top and bottom is Bell mouthed larger to allow it to rock a little. But yes with no flex then they probably wouldn't work.
You do realize Del-A-Lum is a fancy way of saying Delrin right?
I could have my own front's made up to replace what I have and then just deal the with regular rubber rears, Or finish having the J-body set I cut up modified to fit.
I'm getting close to pulling another set of 93 and older subframes, or seeing if mine are still in usable condition.

Re: Cool Hot Rod article
You know you wanna ditch those vertical bushings.
But delrin is again much better than poly. Not only in the obvious gains in handling, but in longevity.

Re: Cool Hot Rod article
Del-A-Lums are not just Delrin. They are a Delrin/Aluminum assembly. This is the kit for Camaro LCA's:

Re: Cool Hot Rod article
Ok I stand corrected, it is still a delrin material though. I'm curious on how well that would work seeing you need to put this aluminum collar in our steel sleeves since our sleeves are not removable like the camaro ones you posted above... Now is that aluminum part going to be held in place somehow so that the only movable part is the center sleeve? If not I see the aluminum wearing VERY quickly against that steel sleeve.
Re: Cool Hot Rod article
Del a lum bushings work like a bearing, so beyond the steel to aluminum corrosion, there should be no wear.

Re: Cool Hot Rod article
Jon ditch the crap design, I cant tell you enough times. It is just a bad design, no if ands or buts.
Re: Cool Hot Rod article
As stated above, the Del-A-Lums are far superior to poly. I'm not wasting my time with poly if I can get these made. With all the power you're putting down with the nitrous switching to the older set-up and these bushings would really be beneficial. Those verticle bushings are crap. Just my $.02 tho.
