Yeah ima tackle it when i get the car to move from where its parked...i started to work on it today by changin alternator #3, and negative cable and i got beached at by my neighbors for revvin it twice...so me being pi$$ed turned it off, shut the hood, put my tools away and all the new parts in the trunk and went and started the dodge, gave em a real reason to complain : ) lol. Long tube hooker headers, dual 2.5in pipes, two flowmaster 40s, and turn-downs just before the axle...i laughed as i watched em give me the death stare out their window.

Same way with the Ramcharger, remove dash, remove the entire heater box revealing a 2ft1.5ft in the fire wall, take the box apart. Total BS!3X00-Modified wrote:Try doing it on an 01 GMC Jimmy... You need to remove the dash.ronaconda wrote:I will second the PITA, but i've done worse (84 Mustang!!!). It can all be done from under the dash. Except for the hoses...you'll have to get under the car for those.
No you don't, trust me lol.ronaconda wrote:unsmart...I WANT YOUR HOOD!!!
Well sadly, i pretty much havent touched the beretta since my last post. I did replace the heater core, i managed to find a spare among all my crap. And i replaced trany lines, a c/v boot, tranny pan, gasket, filter, and axle seals. NOW! readin other topics i got my taillight/brake/turn signal issue figured. Some other issue i figured out searching before this post.
Ive got some type of hesitation at take offs, and stops. Itll hesitate when you get on the gas and come out of it and drive fine. Come to the stop itll idle down to almost stalled and come back up to about 1100pm and then 700rpm and its good. IAC is new but maybe its defective and causing it...and also the TPS. No big ive got a few of those somewhere.
NOW the on going issue...if i park it, the battery completely drains dead within hours if i dont disconnect it. It started doing this bs RIGHT AFTER i replaced the oil pressure sending unit and crank sensor. Ive taken the subs, amp, speakers, AND stereo out of it to eliminate them being culprits, wasnt them. Someone told me my computer come be taking a dump? Anyone wanna help?
This ol thing NEEDS to get put on the road safely. Took it out for a drive the other day into town and it was like getting back with an ex that was a great lay, AWESOME. But i do not miss sitting on the ground when i drive lol. Need to get this reliable to drive, my ramcharger is getting more expensive to fill every week, and my grand am is currently being loaned out to someone who's car got totaled in a hit and run.

Sounds like you have a serious leech in the system. I would thoroughly check the area where you did the part changes, make sure you don't have a wire pinched someplace or one touching somewhere. I would like to think that the sensors wouldn't drain the system, but the way to check that is to unplug both of those, see if the battery drain still happens.
Strange though. Usually our cars take 2 weeks to 1 month to drain a battery dead. But they always will drain one.

I think he had fixed the heater core already, from what I read.

Starter solenoids can sometimes stick and drain a battery.

I shall do that, unplugged them and hooked battery back up about 10 minutes ago. I checked the areas too. I even replaced the crank sensor to ign mod wire since i had to splice in a new plug..i broke a clip. Time will tell though.DTMAce wrote:Sounds like you have a serious leech in the system. Well sometimes when i try to start it the starter will just whine and i get no crank. If battery still dies ill change that too.Money pit Beretta wrote:Starter solenoids can sometimes stick and drain a battery.

Well them sensors been unplugged since about 1:30 its now 11:45 and the batteries still charged. Usually its dead within hours. I may have found my problems, gonna check the wires over to the oil switch and see whats up..and the starter only did that every once in a blue moon. Itd whine, id turn ign off, then try again and itd crank, didnt mess up every time.

Something i had happen to me when i changed the oil pressure sending unit on mine was that it was shorted and would keep the fuel pump running...which would def kill a battery in a couple of hours - solved my problem by unplugging the sending unit. I wonder too if this was your prob as well.

Re: weird haze on inside of windshield? AND....!!!!
ron, youre a hero lol. I plugged the crank sensor and the OPSU at about 1:30 yesterday afternoon. At 6am this morning i woke up went outside and the battery still had a full charge, so i plugged the oil unit back in, just now 2:30pm i went out and the battery is dead. Guess thats what i get for going cheap. Its back on the charger i think i may do the same and leave it unplugged and from time to time plug it in to check my pressure. OH BOY! You ppl got not clue how happy i am, in the last 5 months ive driven this thing twice. Maybe this would also explain my hesitation also if it shorting out was messing with the fuel pump.ronaconda wrote:Something i had happen to me when i changed the oil pressure sending unit on mine was that it was shorted and would keep the fuel pump running...which would def kill a battery in a couple of hours - solved my problem by unplugging the sending unit.
