My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
Oh, I know. I hate rust! Ah well, it works. That car is still a work in progress, probably always will be till its rusted too far, engine blows up, or I kill it with another heavy animal. HA.
Or I sell it!
Anyways. I think you have enough posts, time for some pics!

Doing what you did to the springs I wouldn't recommend, but you're the one driving it. Once and a while, aftermarket lowering springs will pop up on here in the for sale section, and those would be a much safer and better modification over cutting stock springs. For future reference, your car will need 95-96 design springs, as they are different from the 87-94 style. If you even have any questions, or need any used parts, just ask! Stick around, I usually prove to be somewhat helpful as well as entertaining! lol

Ok let's see this thing!
My Beretta has only been up about 2 months and I already miss it... They are fun little cars.

I know cut springs are frowned upon, but for my use, I don't see the issue.

On a 95-96 I don't really think it would be an issue as long as they are clocked correctly. On an 88-94 it would be impossible in the rear...

Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
I cut off exactly two coils, so the clocking is the exact same. I was actually surprised that the front and rear leveled out with identical coil removal. In my pics the back looks low, but I have at least 100# of tools back there until I get done with the 6.0 I'm working on.woody90gtz wrote:On a 95-96 I don't really think it would be an issue as long as they are clocked correctly. Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
Thanks! I love that car!
I look forward to driving it every day. Im hoping to make it a 40 mpg car, but a consistent 32 MPG would be nice!
I'm also going to get some pre cut ebay tint and some 3000k HIDs. I'm looking for input on the steelies though...
Paint to match or leave them black? Or possibly paint them some obnoxiously loud color, and match it to a racing stripe?

Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
What engine does this have? If its the 5spd 4 cylinder 2.2, yeah you might get a possible 40, but the average with the V6 is between 24-30. I have gotten on the high end no more than around 36 over the years. 32 is a bit higher than you should normally get. Keep in mind, the gas gauge goes faster once you pass the 3/4 mark. 3/4 is really about half a tank... And with colder weather, it is only going to be lower.

The wheels? Eh, for steelies, just keep em black.
Oh, and if you ever need another front bumper I have one that even matches the color. lol I also have other stuff that I'm constantly trying to get rid of. Just look for posts from me in the for sale section.

Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
I hadn't gotten one less than 30 average when it was high... And my
best tank was a 36 mpg one. I do practically ALL interstate. 40 miles a day.
DTMAce, I don't have a need for a bumper. A lip would be cool!

Re: My Lowered 96 Chevy Beretta!
I have a lip ON the bumper. I could pull it. Same style lip you have now for the base bumper. Unless you was wanting something different? It has a couple of small typical scrapes, but nothing bad, nothing broken as I recall, but I can double check it tomorrow.
I wish I only drove 40 miles a day. I average 75. Oh well.
