I had the exact same problem on my '96..The code said the EGR and the 02 sensor was bad..So i put a new EGR valve and it definitely help my idling issue
My mechanic clear the code before putting in the 02 sensor just to see if it would clear it. The light was gone but came back up again the next day.
So I've tried to changed the 02 sensor but that bitch is melted/rusted on BIG time..so i gotta have my mechanic to torch that thing! haha
