Speedy my shifter it as short as that if not a lil. The knob is rather tall. I dont want it any lower as its way to low.

And, not to knock yours cause it looks good, i would get anoyed having to reach for that thing every time i needed to shift. Thats why im rocking the Fiero lever as its closer to me now and doesnt interfere with anything, less you have a 44oz drink in that cup holder behind it lol

I was gonna say that sucker goes back far but not forward at all almost... Kinda weird to see fifth as pretty much in the middle...

I like it! You've totally got my interest if you decide you want to sell some of those.

R in my Camaro is just about dead center in the boot. Looks don't matter as much as comfort. My Beretta is offset to the driver's side too from when I welded the bolt for my screw-on knob.

I find it bit amusing how some people cut the shifter as short as possible. While actually the driving oriented way is to extend it close as possible to the steering wheel.

Here's a ricer knock-off, but this is how it's done on real race cars, you need to have the shifter in fast to reach position...

That shifter definitely looks good! Im still trying to figure why my shifts arent tight, i got Brett sending me a new shift assembly to see what that does..

I always thought the same thing. If I drove manual, I would prefer it to be as close to the wheel as possible. Many people weren't a fan of this but I personally loved the shifter position of the Honda Civic Si/Type R (EP).

Yes, yes, flame me if you must. lol

Weba makes a good point... shortening the shifter is an easier way to shorten your shifts... the best way and how I did it on the subie was to re-locate the actual pivot point of the shift linkage, change the angles change the shift throw but keep the same length shifter it's nice.

I still like the shorter shifter anyway. Unless you're using two hands to steer it's fine down low...and just feels more natural. Who needs two hands on the wheel to drag race? haha

I think that's weba's point 2 hands needed for road/ralley racing... and I'll back him up with who the hell uses a 5-speed in a drag race.

Sounds like a calling out! You guys are gonna have to settle this on the track lol ANd Jon and Weba, i wanted to change the pivot point on the shifter arm to make it longer on the bottom, but i have to actually make something modded with the shifter assembly as the bottom of the shifter arm cannot be located any lower on the lever or it will hit the selector linkage.

What i need to do is find a way to move the selector pivot up 1.5" and that will take the whole shifter up another 1.5" which will allow me another 1.5" on the bottom, for me to remove about 3" of shift movement in the stock setup. Its gonna take some fabbing, but doable. I did it on my old Isuzu Stylus but that shifter assembly was easy to do. A stock height shifter lost about 3" just from moving the shifter cable down on the lever about 1".

Image

Just doing that lost so much throw! I want to be able to do that with my car, but will need another shifter base in order to make it work like i want it to.
