Picked up a few miscellaneous parts today for the '88 GT. Some vents, E-brake assembly, cig lighter, window switch etc. I had a good day as I was thinking the inop Driver's side window MIGHT be the switch. Put the new switch on and WALA! Window works perfectly again! So no window motor install for me, yea! I hate putting those things in.
Oh, also wired in the Tail Lights and finishing up the Head Lights tomorrow so I can at least drive it legally, lol. Will post pics tomorrow as I didn't get to finish today due to dark coming. Bolting up the hood, bumper grill, and fenders as well. Will just remove them as I need to in order to work on them.

(Cliff8928 @ Mar. 24 2008,23:46)QUOTENot bad... Another clue that it's an 88 is the instrument cluster with the outlined gauges..
Oh, and that sounds like a chambered muffler (like a flowmaster).
What are the headlights supposed to go in?
Again I'm impressed Cliff. You were absolutely correct once again. Flowmaster muffler with a high flow cat and I believe 2.5 inch exhaust. Good call. I think the exhaust on this car sounds just tits!

I'm excitedly how looks the car after some work (:
Oh and do you want to keep that bodykit or do you put another kit on it?

Trying to keep this body kit. Bolted on the fenders and front bumper today, but unhappy with the way things fit as well as the fit of the BMW head lights. Going to have to do some sanding/grinding/cutting/drilling to make me happy. Also noticed the oil pump seems weak today. So.... I guess I'll be switching it out in the not so distant future.

Yea way too many new and good parts on this car to waste by just pulling the engine. Radiator looks brand new, as do the half shafts, fan, etc. LOTS of new and newer parts.
Side note:
Where are you from in NM again Duncan?

A little vid at night of the Mercedes tails installed and wired up. I would have vid of the head lights too but wasn't happy with fitment of them or the fenders/bumper. So when they fit to my satisfaction I will post a vid of them as well.

those tails make it look kinda like a 99 Grand am.
where was the oil pressure reading? I read a old service bulletin at work that said that at idle the oil pump only makes like 10-15 psi when warm. people were afraid that there were problems with their new cars lol! if it's below that I'd be concerned.

Thx guys! Oil pressure was bouncing around 5-15 lbs. Only did it that one day though. Since then remains above 15 even at idle. Dunno....keeping a close eye on it.

I used to get ~15-20psi at warm idle with the 90 GT 3.1. At warm 3K it would be ~40-50 psi. I would say to put 1/2 seafoam in the crank, run it for a little bit then change the oil and replace with a delco filter. AC47 IIRC is the filter that holds a little more oil. Then, 1/2 can of seafoam in the gas and you should be good. You said the car hasnt run in 2 years so it's probibly the oil sludging up and breaking down. No biggie.
Good rule of themb..... 10 psi for every 1K RPM is what you need

That's pretty much what I had figured as well. Carbon deposits and buid up breaking up and such. I figure that's why she still burns a little excess carbon/oil out the tail pipe for a few minutes on startup. Probably will Sea Foam it as it shouldn't hurt since it's a 2000 mile motor.
